I think Bri over at Work Clothes, I Suppose was thinking just of me when she chose this month’s Third Thursday Threads theme of white pants. I mean, not only did I choose white jeans as one of my Top 10 Remix items, I’ve been known to wear white pants in all seasons!
And, as luck would have it, I had already decided to wear them today.
There are actually THREE of my Top 10 Remix pieces in this outfit!
Why did I decide to wear them today? Well, today we’re interviewing for a position that will report to me and I decided that I wanted to be a little dressed up…but not too much. So, it’s all business on top but a little more casual on the bottom.
I think white jeans, like black ones, can straddle the line between super casual and slightly dressy. Jason doesn’t understand how one can have “dressy” jeans but I beg to differ. It can totally be done!
Especially with white jeans. Just look at the all the ways I’ve worn them in the past! I’m thinking a round-up post of all my white jeans outfits should be on the to-do list.
In the mean time, wish me luck on these interviews. I hope we find the perfect candidate!
About two years ago I decided I needed white jeans. However, I wanted the PERFECT white jeans. My criteria? Not so tight in the thighs that they looked painted on. Not too tight in the ankles (no jeggings, please). And not see-thru.
You would not believe how difficult it was to find a pair that fit all these criteria! I think I went to almost every store in Chicago. And then I ventured into Bloomingdale’s. I felt really, REALLY out of place in there but, lo and behold, I found my perfect white jeans. And paid an arm and a leg for them. Or, I guess, two legs.

I love these jeans, though. I paid full price for them and, while at the time I thought it was a ridiculous amount to pay, I’ve worn them enough that I’m pretty sure the cost-per-wear is pennies by this point.
That’s why I chose them for my Top 10 Remix. White jeans may not be the most crazy item in my closet and they might not scream “Erin” like, say, my leopard print flats, but I did search high and low for them and would be super duper upset if they got ruined.
Thank goodness I found another pair that ticked all the boxes at LOFT. Those are now my extra pair in case something does happen to this! But, let’s all keep our fingers crossed that these particular jeans last a good while longer.
I know I’ve talked about Le Tote before but they recently added a new feature where you can swap out items in your Tote before it ships! Meaning if they’ve put something in that you’re just not in the mood for or you don’t think you’ll have an opportunity to wear you can swap it for a different piece.
I did just that with this top. There was something kind of plain and solid colored in the batch and I decided I wanted to try something colorful. And here we are.

And keeping with the colorful theme, I tossed on my red flats because wearing nude flats just seemed too boring. Although, I admit, with this much color on I kind of felt a little clownish.
Regardless, I liked all the colors in the top but the bottom hem had these weird slits in the front towards the sides that I didn’t find particularly flattering. Which is why I’m glad it’s from Le Tote! I can wear it once and send it back.
On Tuesday I put this outfit on, went to work, and was at my desk less than two hours when my husband texted me to ask where the thermometer was.

Yep, my husband caught a stomach bug. So, I left work and came home to take care of him (and Chewie). The white jeans went back in the closet and I put on regular ones. I did, however, put the white jeans back on to go to the Milk Handmade pop-up shop I mentioned yesterday.
I really liked this outfit, though, and I feel that it didn’t get the screen time that it should. So, I have a feeling I will be wearing it again closer to the holidays. I mean, it IS the perfect casual outfit to wear to work and still feel festive.
Back in June I wore an outfit that I loved. Blue Oxford shirt, navy J. Crew Schoolboy blazer, jeans, pearls and nude pumps. I’ve been wanting to wear a similar outfit but with my white pants however every time I go to put that outfit together I can’t find my blue shirt!
Did the dry cleaners misplace it? Do I just have way too many clothes and it’s buried somewhere? Am I going crazy? I really don’t know the answer. So when I got this shirt from Le Tote (<-Referral Link) I decided this was my chance to recreate the outfit for cooler weather.

Unfortunately, this top, even in a size small, is HUGE on me. Like, ridiculously so. The blazer helped keep some of the volume in check but there was a part of me that was hoping this could be a replacement for my missing shirt. Sadly, no. Also, this one wrinkles like crazy. So, I shall stay on the hunt for the missing shirt instead.
Are you guys tired of my stairwell yet? I hope not. Between the weather, it getting dark earlier, and my attempts to go to the gym at lunch I can’t promise you’ll see a lot of fun photo locations. Sorry! At least I tried to brighten it up with white jeans and a puppy?
Yes, I am still wearing my white jeans. And, just to show you how versatile they are, I actually wore this same cardigan, top, and jeans over the summer but with my leopard print flats instead of these wedge booties. Just changing the shoes makes it totally work for fall!
Actually, I think the white jeans in the fall thing is even more accepted considering I got an email from Crain’s Chicago expressing interest in featuring me as part of their Chicago work style series after the last time I wore these jeans. I still haven’t heard anything final but just getting the email was pretty cool!
I had every intention of participating in this week’s Style Imitating Art challenge but man, sometimes life just gets in the way. For example, I had visions of wearing my black sweater with my faux leather pants and black booties but I couldn’t find my black sweater. So then I switched it up with this outfit, took pictures, but then didn’t have time to blog until now!
And then I had all kinds of issues with this outfit. The jeans bunched up at my knees with these boots. I feel that the boots are too pointy for what’s in style right now (although, since these are the most expensive shoes I own, I don’t think I’ll be replacing them any time soon). And then I was having troubles taking pictures because it was so sunny.
Sigh. Difficulties all around. Ah, well. I suppose if that’s the worst part of my life right now I’m doing pretty well, don’t you think?
If you don’t follow me on Instagram or are friends with me on Facebook you might have missed that my puppy Chewie hurt himself at the dog park two weekends ago. Nothing too serious; he basically scraped up his leg while attempting to jump onto a concrete ledge.
Jason took him to vet last Thursday for one last check-up and he was given the all clear to lose the bandage. Thank goodness because keeping Chewie from eating it was driving me crazy!
Anyway, they got done at the vet about the time I was getting home so I met them in the courtyard outside our apartment building for some outfit photography. With the iPhone. Because I forgot to bring the camera.

You can see his healing scrape in this photo. Poor baby!
We haven’t been able to take him to the dog park in almost two weeks because he had to keep the injury dry. As you can imagine, a 10 month old puppy who loves the dog park is going a bit stir crazy without his outlet and daily dog-on-dog interaction.
Remember how I said my boss was out of the office so I could wear jeans every day?
Well, my boss’s boss appeared back in the office a few days early so I haven’t been able to get away with jeans this week like I thought. Until today. Because today I don’t care.

Why don’t I care? Because I’m leaving at 2PM today to pick up a full sized passenger van, 5 other people, and enough running stuff to get us through 200 miles. Well, technically 100 miles. Our other van of 6 people has to run the other 100.

You guys! I’ve been waiting all week for this outfit. No, not just because jeans means it’s Casual Friday. No. It’s because I LOVE this outfit!! This was one of those weeks when I took all my outfit photos on Sunday (and, yes, I do wear every single outfit that you see) but I put this outfit together at the last minute. I’m still doing the no black in January challenge and I wanted something different than regular blue jeans. So, white jeans in winter it is!
The last time I wore these white jeans after Labor Day you guys loved them. So I hope you love today’s look just as much. The collared shirt was a last minute addition and I think it adds just a bit more sophistication as well. It’s also sleeveless chiffon which makes it the perfect layering piece. Less bulk and no sleeves to roll up.
Basically, I think this outfit just really screams my style. A little something edgy and trendy paired with something a little classic and structured.
