Top 2015 Favorites

Office Appropriate Outfits - Fall · Fluoxetine and abilify · Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer · Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

Now that 2015 is officially over I thought it would be fun to compare my favorite outfits of the year with your favorites outfits of the year using the results from my monthly polls. It was interesting to see when you agreed with me and when you had a different favorite. Believe it or not, you rarely agreed with me!

In fact, the only times you agreed with me were February (which was actually a tie with the red dress), November and December!

Looking back over my favorites for the past year I’m trying to see a pattern in what I loved and what you loved. There are some repeats like my white jeans, my denim jacket, and colorful patterns and prints. But, honestly, I don’t see a theme or anything that would allow me to say “this is my style”.

And that’s okay. I don’t think you need to define your style. It’s okay to say you like something but not really know why. It’s also okay to make some sartorial mistakes. For example, looking at the collage of my 2015 favorites, I actually really dislike the one I picked for January when compared with all the other months.

When I started my current job with its more casual dress code I said I wasn’t going to become the person who wears jeans every day. Well, I wear jeans a lot. Some of that is because my dress pants are all currently too big and it seems silly to replace them. Some of that is because jeans are just fun (and easy) to wear! Especially when it’s cold and skirts or dresses are just asking for frozen lower extremities thanks to my commute.

So, in terms of style, I don’t think you’ll see a lot of differences in 2016. I am trying to cut down on my spending, though, so you might not see much in the way of new items. But I have a feeling you’ll be okay with that.

I also might start including some more non-style posts although I haven’t quite figured out what that would look like. More fitness related stuff? More life stuff? Is there something you’d want to see?

In the mean time, I’ll leave you with my nine most liked Instagram photos of 2015.  A different kind of favorites, if you will.

Favorite Outfit of September

Office Appropriate Outfits - Fall

Um, can someone please tell me where the summer went? Why did I spend the weekend at the dog park dressed in jeans, boots, a long sleeved shirt, a jean jacket, scarf AND puffy vest? Why?? I mean, seriously, my favorite outfit of September involved sandals!

favorite-september-outfit

Considering I basically wore this outfit two days in a row I figured I should pick it as my favorite for the month. Although I also really liked the leopard skirt and white tee outfit, too.

Which were your favorites from the past month? And is anyone else wondering how fall got her so quickly?

Favorite Outfit of Summer (aka July & August)

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

I’ve been a bad blogger lately. It’s not because I haven’t been wearing clothes or anything. No. It’s more like I’ve just been too busy (or lazy) to take pictures. Especially on weekends. Two weekends ago I was completing my second-ever triathlon (and my first one in a real lake) and this past weekend we were visiting my in-laws. And while downtown Carmel, IN is adorable and would make for some great photoshoots, it just wasn’t in the cards.

And, while I was fretting over my lack of blogging, I realized I still hadn’t ever done a “favorite outfit” post for July OR August! Mainly because I took so few pictures in July and August. So, instead I decided to combine them together for a “best of summer” retrospective.

It’s appropriate because we didn’t really get summer until recently and even then only for a few days. Which is probably why my favorite outfit looks more like it belongs in spring as opposed to summer.

I just love the simplicity of this outfit. Neutrals. My favorite blazer. Dark jeans that I haven’t worn  since because I think they’re buried in my closet even though I like them a lot. The necklace I almost kept from Le Tote. And that it’s the perfect culmination of my go-to casual but business-y outfit.

Anyway, I do miss blogging. I just don’t miss having to come up with outfits and figure out when to take pictures. Feeling a bit burnt out, I guess. So, cheer me up and vote so I feel like someone is still reading? Too desperate? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Favorite Outfit of June

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

While everyone else is out there talking about the upcoming holiday weekend (Fourth of July, in case you’re not sure) I’m still in denial that July is upon us. But, it is so let’s do this thing where you vote for your favorite outfit of June!

June was a tough month outfit-wise. I’m really struggling with several things: only a few pairs of my pants and skirts fit, the weather has been so ridiculous, and I’m still not sure how to dress. I read posts about finding your style and choosing your favorite pieces and paring down your closet and I think, yeah, let’s do that! And then I look at a month of outfits and think, you know, I like the variety even if sometimes it’s a struggle and sometimes they don’t all work out as well as I thought.

So, you tell me, which of June’s outfits do you like the best? Use the poll below to vote. Or, if you want, leave a comment and tell me which one you think is most “me”!

And of course, what was my favorite outfit? I think it was the one I wore to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Comfy, a bit trendy, but not too out there.

June 2, 2015 + June 3, 2015 - 1 of 7

One last thing: you might have noticed that I didn’t do a vote for May. Well, it’s because I only had 5 outfits to choose from! I did have a favorite, though. You can see it on my Pinterest board.  And, as always, the Outfit Gallery page has all the outfits in one spot.

Top 10 Remix Wrap Up + Favorite Outfit of April Voting

Fluoxetine and abilify

First things first, guys. Remember that Top 10 Remix Challenge I was participating in during April? No? That’s okay. I failed at taking pictures of a lot of the outfits I wore so it didn’t get mentioned much.

I had grand plans to talk about each piece as I wore it but, man, the days all blurred together. But, I promise you, I didn’t cheat (during the work week, anyway). Even on days when I didn’t get a picture I swear I was wearing one of my 10 pieces.

So here are the outfits I wore that were part of the challenge.

top-10-remix-wrap-upClearly the white blazer and the white jeans were the favorites and I had to keep myself from wearing one of them every day. In fact, what I found myself doing was wanting to pair the 10 pieces with each other. I think that picking them just put them foremost in my mind and it was easier to reach for multiples of them instead of picking one and then building an outfit out of the other pieces in my closet.

I wonder if that would make it easier or harder to do a 30×30 challenge (you know, where you pick 30 pieces and that’s all you can wear for 30 days).

From the sounds of it on Sarah’s wrap up post, lots of us felt the same way. It was definitely an interesting experiment and one I would definitely try again. In some ways it makes it easier to get dressed (grab one thing and build an outfit around it) and in other ways it made it more difficult (but I want to wear all things that weren’t on my list!).

What are your thoughts on the challenge?

However, because I started the challenge a bit late I have three outfits for April that weren’t part of my Top 10 Remix. So, in the interest of consistency, I’m including them for the voting portion of this month’s Favorite Outfit.

As for me, what was my favorite outfit? You know, I actually liked quite a few of my outfits this month which is probably because I was basing them off some of my favorite pieces in my closet. But I think the winner is my white blazer and the multicolored top. I mean, I loved the top so much I bought it after borrowing it from Le Tote!

Favorite Outfit of March

Fluoxetine and abilify · Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

When I first started thinking about writing this post I thought it was going to be like last March. What do I mean by that? That I wasn’t really going to like any of my outfits. Oh, sure, I chose a favorite last March but even then I admitted I didn’t really love any of my outfits.

But this March? I’m actually having trouble choosing! I don’t know if it’s because my dress code has changed, if my style has changed, or what. But I actually like quite a few of the outfits I put together this past month.

But, if I have to pick a favorite, I’m going to go with my faux leather pants, pink sweater, and herringbone vest.

Sarah over at Sarah’s Real Life is doing a challenge for the month of April where we’re supposed to pick 10 items in our closet that we love and that we feel exemplify our style. I’m actually having a really difficult time choosing! Based on this past month, though, I think I’m gravitating towards simple colors with one pattern and some bling. Now I just have to decide which 10 items I love the most.

So, I’ll turn it over to you: which outfit do you love the most?

Favorite Outfit of February

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

Another month come and gone which means it’s time to discuss our favorite outfit from the past month.

(By the way, if you’re curious about what happens after you vote, well, here’s my round-up of your favorites from 2014!)

To be honest, February is my least favorite month of the year. I joke that it’s also the shortest otherwise I’d be threatening to go into hibernation and never come out.

Getting dressed in February is also my least favorite. I’m tired of cold and snow. I just want to be warm. There are only so many ways you can make a sweater look interesting. Stores are transitioning to spring clothes so even shopping isn’t fun.

Which means that I think my favorite outfit of February is my least winter-like outfit.

black-sequin-leggings-2Also, sequined pants. Clearly a winner.

I really don’t have anything else to say about February other than I’m happy it’s over.

What about you? What did you like in February? Don’t forget to vote in the poll below or click the images to see the full outfits again!

Three Years of Looks in the Loop

Office Appropriate Outfits - Fall · Fluoxetine and abilify · Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer · Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

As I mentioned yesterday (go vote while you’re there, too) this little blog is celebrating it’s third birthday!

I know lots of bloggers do big things for their blog’s birthdays but, just like my own birthday this year, I couldn’t get my act together to plan anything.

2014 was a crazy year. My husband finished school and started a new career. I started a new job. We got a puppy. I once joked that the only thing we didn’t do was move.  In the midst of all that I had to learn how to balance new work schedules, puppy-schedules, and a brand new work dress code (or lack of one, as the case may be).

I admit that sometimes this blog took a backseat and I’ve been hesitant to make any major goals for 2015. Still, I’m super grateful for all the opportunities and connections Loop Looks has given me so far.

And, really, none of that would be possible if it wasn’t for those of you who read here, on Twitter, on Instagram or Facebook.

So, as a thank you to you and as a celebration for the past year, here’s a look at the 12 outfits you voted as your favorites of 2014.

2014_outfits_loop_looks(Clearly you guys like the plaid scarf…)

The past two years I’ve done a reader poll to get an idea of what you like and what you don’t like around here but, like I said, I’m hesitant to make any proclamations for what’s happening in 2015.  But, if you have a suggestion I’m still all ears!

Favorite Outfit of January

Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

Guess who turned three years old yesterday? Yep, it was this little blog. Crazy.

Tomorrow will be the big celebration but for now we’re talking about our favorite outfit of January.

I’m honestly impressed I got this many outfit photos in January because I was a bit busy for much of the month. And looking back nothing particularly stands out for me as a favorite. I suppose, though, the outfit I want to wear again and again is my tweed jacket with my button up shirt.

What about you? Do you have a favorite outfit of mine from January? I’d love to hear from you. All you have to do is vote below! And remember, you should be able to click on the thumbnails if you want to see all the details for a particular outfit.

P.S. Red, black and plaid won for December.

Favorite Outfit of December

Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

In the midst of everyone going over their favorite outfits from 2014 I’m still over here asking you to vote for your favorite from December! It’s easier, though, because there aren’t very many. Travel, food poisoning, and general holiday craziness put a damper on my posting.

But first, a shout-out to my mom. Today is her birthday and I have to say that we’ve been influencing each others fashion choices for years. In fact, I think she was more adventurous than I was! I distinctly remember her trying to get me to mix patterns as a kid and me saying no way

My, how times have changed.

However, one thing hasn’t changed. As usual, I can’t pick just one outfit as my favorite. I have two.

december-outfitsI just couldn’t pick. Of course the one on the left might be influenced by my adorable blog co-star (seen below). But the one on the right was so fun I actually wore it twice in December. I loved the red cardigan with the black and plaid.

Either way, both of these outfits fit my current favorite version of casual: solid colors with pattern accents. And jeans, of course.

So, now it’s your turn to tell me what you liked the best from December! Don’t forget, you should be able to click on each photo to see it full sized at the original post. And you can vote using the poll below!

And, if you’re curious, the camel sweater, green jeans and plaid scarf won for November. So of course I wore it again on Friday.
