I said I’d never wear leggings

Casual Clothes · Shopping

Those of you that have been around this space for awhile know that I am very anti-leggings. They are not pants. I will not wear them to work. I feel weird wearing them unless I’m working out.

But then I got this pair from Moonfish and I might be changing my tune. At least regarding wearing them in public.

Moonfish is a pop-up shop that collaborates with small business in Chicago creating a mutually beneficial relationship. People come into shop the clothing and accessories curated by Moonfish’s mama, Sarah, and they get exposed to unique art galleries, furniture stores and more.

I met with Sarah a few weeks ago to chat about Moonfish. Her goal is to provide one stop shopping, especially for women who get overwhelmed with all the options in a regular store. She picks items that work well for just about any wardrobe, but focuses on comfortable, simple clothes that you can change up with accessories.

The prices are in the $30-$70 range which is perfect for me! I believe both the leggings and the scarf I’m wearing are less than $50. The scarf is now my go-to at work when the office is chilly and the leggings? Well, let’s just say that they are substantial enough that I almost consider them pants. They’re really not THAT much different than my old Gap skinny pants  or my Old Navy jeggings when you think about it. Except these have a nice, wide waistband and a little bit of texture to them. And they’re nice and thick. Perfect for pairing with boots and scarves this winter!

Interested in getting your own scarf, leggings, or other items at Moonfish? Because Sarah focuses personal attention for each customer, you can book an appointment now on the website to visit the current pop-up shop located at KSI Art Gallery, 3414 Main Street, Skokie, Illinois.

Can’t make it to this pop-up shop? Like the Moonfish page on Facebook or join the mailing list so you can be the first to know about the next one!

I was not compensated for this post other than with the gift of two scarves and a pair of leggings. All opinions are my own.

Those leggings look awesome! They really do look like skinny jeans, so it’s great to hear they are so comfortable. Love the scarf, too! Chewie looks adorable in the second picture with his one paw curled underneath him.

Ahhhh, boots-and-scarves season… just around the corner, yay!!!

Love that scarf! I am guilty of the leggings as pants…but I’m not a style blogger so it’s all good! ;o)
Leggings with a tunic and boots is my go-to winter outfit.

Hi Erin! Bummer you couldn’t make it, but there is always holiday Moonfish! Truthfully, everywhere you look there are tunic-style tops. Moonfish will be carrying several tunics during the holiday pop-up! Can’t wait to see u!

well, my favorite place was a little shop in Pinehurst, NC :o( but they aren’t online, and it’s a bit far to travel for a tunic! Athleta has great tunics, especially their fall and winter collections of sweaters. Title Nine, too. Nordstrom usually has good options, online especially. If I think of more, I will pass them along to you. I think Old Navy might have a few right now? Ive been on a clothing shopping hiatus (trying not to buy anything new until Dec! ACK!) so I have been trying to stay away from all sites for a bit!
I would definitely start with Athleta and Title Nine though. And for leggings, i love Beyond Yoga. They have a plain black that is very thick, a good thing for Chicago winters, I am sure. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for. I think you can find Beyond Yoga at Nordstrom.

You look so great in both the scarf and the leggings. We have nicknamed them the magical leggings! Leggings and an oversized top is my uniform in the fall and winter!

I’m so bummed that getting up to Skokie just wasn’t in the cards after all. I’m really looking forward to the next one, though! I’ll make it a point to schedule time to come in advance.

Moonfish sounds like such a cool concept! I absolutely fall into that “gets overwhelmed by the abundance at regular stores” category, so catering to those sorts of people is a genius idea. (Also, dying over Chewie in the second photo. He looks like he’s smiling!
