Erin and the Chewie

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer · Style Imitating Art

This week’s Style Imitating Art challenge featured “Una and the Lion“, a painting full of neutral colors, a woman in a dress, and some animals. Therefore, I bring you my own version, also full of neutrals, a dress, and an animal: “Erin and the Chewie”.

This outfit was also inspired by one that Jen wore and it features the vest that I swapped with Jen. And since Jen chose the art for this week, basically this entire post is just all Jen all the time.

In other news, I’m meeting with a start-up this week called Shoe Drop to learn more about their business model and services. Basically, it’s a shoe repair service where you drop off your shoes at kiosks around the city, they pick them up, fix them, and deliver them back to the kiosk for you to pick-up. Perfect if you’re busy and don’t want to hunt down a shoe repair store. If there’s anything specifically you’d like me to ask, let me know! I never used a shoe repair service until I moved to Chicago but now I’m all about it since I walk so much and my shoes take a beating.

Speaking of which, I’ve been wearing these gold sandals so much that I bought another, similar pair. The reviews for my first pair said they run a half size big but I don’t agree with that. I ordered a 7.5 in the gold ones and they feel slightly too big. I ordered a 7 in the new pair and they fit perfectly. Just something to keep in mind!

LOVE that outfit, so cute! I have a similar vest (that I wear with a similar looking maxi), but I really like the looks of yours better than mine. What type of harness is Chewie wearing, and do you like it? We are in the market for a harness for Odi. I found a great one for Fred (with a handle on the back which comes in handy for the old boy), but it’s a bit much for Odi. Chewie’s looks really nice.

I think this is a PetSafe Easy Walk Harness. We bought it from the behaviorist about a year and a half ago and she basically handed it to us and said here, try this. It works really well to keep him from pulling. I did a cursory search and they might have changed the design slightly but the leash still clips on at the chest which is the main thing that keeps him from pulling.

As for the vest, the funny thing is that the one I bought originally was too long on me…but the one Jen had was too short on her. So we swapped!

Thanks so much for all the good info Erin…I really think that harness will be good for Odi! Ordering one right now :o)

    Best blog post title ever.

I’ve never even thought of trying to have my shoes repaired. If they get worn out, I usually just get rid of them. Honestly, I don’t think I even know what counts as a legitimate thing to have repaired – is it just like heels falling off, or do can you have something like holes in your shoe fixed, too? There we go! A question to ask 🙂

The Shoe Drop website lists a LOT of things they can fix. Mostly I’ve had heel tips replaced and the leather/fabric on the heels recovered on my dress pumps. I also had an ankle strap reattached on a pair of shoes once, too. As for holes, that would be more expensive but depending on where the hole is they can probably recover it or replace/rebuild that part of the shoe. It’s probably not worth it if you didn’t pay that much for the shoes, but if they are super comfortable or just fit perfectly then I would spend the money.

I agree with Bethany – best blog post title, ever!!! Love those gold t-strap sandals, too.

I’d be interested in getting general price ranges for shoe fixes! I have a pair of patent nude pumps that I love, but they are starting to get worn down. I’m having a heck of a time finding a new pair that I like to replace them. It’d be nice to not have to keep searching around!
