SIA: Pearl Earrings

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer · Style Imitating Art

You would not believe the struggle it was to get photos of this outfit. Seriously. Hurdles I had to overcome included oppressive heat, thunderstorms that were so strong they destroyed a train stop near my apartment, and a husband (aka photographer) who was out of town with our “good” camera.

But, I persevered! Because it’s Style Imitating Art time!

If you need a refresher, this week we’re using The Girl with the Pearl Earring as our inspiration. And, yes, I am wearing pearl earrings.

I bought this dress years and years ago. Seven years ago, actually, on a trip to Sonoma & Napa. Facebook reminded me just yesterday morning how long ago that trip was. It’s still one of my favorite vacations to date.

Anyway, this weekend I was browsing the Tribeca boutique sidewalk sale and realized they had a ton of different dresses in this same blue color. So, if you’re in Chicago and need a blue dress, come on over to the West Loop! I didn’t need another blue dress but I admit I was tempted. Because, like I said last week, I crave dresses in the summer.

Love that dress! Napa (and wine country in general) is one of my favorite places.
Those storms were really something, lots of trees down in the park across the street. Was Chewy your photographer? That dog has talents :o)

Apparently the storm uprooted a bunch of trees in the park where I do my speedwork runs! I haven’t gone over there to check it out yet, though.

Chewie may be good at a lot of things, but photography’s not his strong suit 🙂 This was all me and the self-timer with our point-and-shoot on a tripod.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that dress. Such a beautiful color, super flattering, looks like it doesn’t wrinkle, and I adore the drapework and gathering. So beautiful. Love those metallic sandals, too! I’ve never been to Tribeca but keep meaning to check it out since I walk by it so often!

Thank you! You can see why it’s been in my closet for so long, I’m sure!

This was my first time going into Tribeca, too. Some of the prices were a bit steep for me, but if you can catch something on sale it looks to be a good deal.

I love this clever theme for outfit inspiration! And that is such a cute dress- can’t believe it’s seven years old! Kudos on the hurdle jumping to get the photos taken. However did you manage not to bulk up your quads during all that hurdling? LOL!! Glad you could relate to my “Bulking doesn’t happen by accident” feelings!
