Cool in the Summer

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

Okay, okay, it might not be so cool today but, hey, I wore this outfit a while back when it was one of our cooler days. However, you will never hear me complain about how hot it is! I’ve grown to love the heat. Maybe it has something to do with not running as long of distances in the summer? I don’t know.

Or maybe it’s just that I’m not cool enough for my neighborhood anymore! Seriously, you guys. When I moved to Chicago’s West Loop the street about half a mile north of me was known as “Restaurant Row” but now it seems that the entire neighborhood is getting trendier by the minute! A new restaurant opens up every week it seems. We have two new boutique hotels going up. So many new condos and apartments that are already out of my price range. It’s crazy.

Oh, and McDonald’s is moving their headquarters to a few blocks from me. Not to mention Google has their building across the street from where we board Chewie.

Sometimes I feel bad for not taking advantage of all these new places but, hey, I’m not making “new” money so I guess I’ll just have to continue to be warm and not cool.

I will have to respectfully disagree with you on the weather comment, as it’s already getting too hot for me, and I know it’s just going to get worse as the week goes on. Though that’s less about running (though it is partly about running…six mile tempo run later this week on the treadmill thanks to the heat wahhhhh 🙁 ) and more about how I’m wired, because I’ve never liked the heat, regardless of whether or not I’m running. My parents were in town the other day and we were talking about neighborhoods in Chicago, and they asked me if I would ever live in the West Loop. I told them I’d be happy to, once I won the lottery! Haha.

A few years ago I probably would agree with you about heat in general. But now I feel like I am always cold all the time. I also eat dinner at like 6PM. Does this mean I’m turning into an old person?

I feel the exact same way! I was never cool enough for the West Loop, but I do love stopping by places for a drink or two 😉
