SIA: The Art of Independence

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer · Style Imitating Art

A few weeks ago I had a gift card to redeem at lululemon but it was only redeemable at one in the suburbs. So, we decided to make it a date night and head over to Oak Brook mall so I could shop and we could eat dinner.

I wore this dress and it turned out to be the perfect outfit to go along with this week’s Style Imitating Art choice.

The blues, the patterns, and the fact that my necklace is a bead work so well, right?

Also, I want to take a moment to talk about lululemon sports bras. This was the first time I’d ever actually tried anything on in that store and the sports bras were so….tiny! I don’t even have that big of a chest and yet I felt like I was going to accidentally flash myself in the dressing room.  Their stuff looks so cute on other people but I’m not sure how I feel about it. Any of you have thoughts?

I loooooove this outfit. Early frontrunner for July favorite for sure. The pattern on your dress is so lovely! As for Lululemon: I’ve only ever worn one Lululemon item in my life, because I got it for free from a former blogger who works for Lululemon. The shirt is adorable and really nice, but I would never, ever, in one gazillion years, pay that much money for clothes I only intend to wear for sweating. I’m unlikely to pay $40 for a tank top period, never mind one meant for working out. The cute factor doesn’t outweigh the price for me, especially since Lululemon/Athleta sparked the whole “athleisure” movement, and now you can find cute workout clothes anywhere, including Target and Old Navy, where things are substantially cheaper!

Love that dress! The SIA piece is so gorgeous, too…anything with a lot of blue, and I am a fan.
I have shopped at lululemon in the past, but don’t think I will again, it is just way overpriced for the quality. I bought a great little running skort a couple of summers ago, and paid a mint for them, and they fell apart in no time at all. Workout clothes need to be tough, and these were super wimpy and so expensive.

A+ all the way!! Looks like you shopped all day to get that look. PERFECT for SIA for sure. Score!!!!!
