Time for another Style Imitating Art round-up! Apologies for it being one day late. I had to move Fitness Friday to Lisinopril and metformin for reasons beyond my control. Anyway, here’s what we’re interpreting this week.
First we have Stephanie who went with a mix of patterns to echo all the patterns in the inspiration painting. I love the double polka dots and how the green striped shirt plays off the green dots in the scarf, skirt and earrings.
Next we have Mike who chose the red and white striped card in the painting since he says he knew exactly what shirt to wear when he saw it! He also says he wore jeans, even though he’s not usually a jeans guy, since he felt that made it more “Memorial Day” appropriate. Plus, he included a post card of his own that he made! Such a cool hobby.
And then we have SIA newcomer, Emily! Emily is a blogger and one of my “real life” friends and I’m super thrilled to have her participating. She says she tried to capture “capture the beige backgrounds with my beige pants; the stripes via my shirt; and the overall combos of turquoise, pink, and purple via the jacket, shirt, and scarf.” Personally, I love her jacket and I think I need something that color in my life.
SIA co-host Jen says “I paired stripes and polka dots together for a very simple (but pretty bright and bold!) outfit.” That’s what I love about Jen. she can take simple pieces and make a stand-out look! Get all the details on her outfit here.
Salazar, our other SIA co-host wrote, “Rather than trying to match the painting exactly, I chose to interpret it more loosely in my pattern mixing (three – stripes, polka dots, and leopard print – four if you count the floral print on my tiny owl brooch.)” I think that’s one of the reasons I love SIA – you can interpret the colors, the patterns, or just the general vibe of the piece! Also, I may not have polka dot pants, but if I did I would recreate this outfit in a heartbeat. It’s a great casual spring/summer outfit.
Next up is Karen from She Thought She Could. I do believe this is the first time she’s been featured on my blog. So, welcome, Karen! She writes, “This top reminded me of all the squiggles and dots in the photo. I also tried to incorporate the wood texture in the background with my background.”
Then we have another colorful outfit from Rabbit Style News! I think a lot of us definitely gravitated towards the blue in the photo. The pink flowers in the background go with the theme, too.
Finally, we have another SIA newcomer, Chris! Yay for more men’s style! Gotta love how the striped belt adds some visual interest to the solid-colored shirt and shorts.
And then, of course, there’s me.
Thank you to everyone who participated this week! I loved seeing so many new faces and outfits. Don’t forget to check back next week for Salazar’s pick!
