This is what real life looks like

Office Appropriate Outfits - Spring

One of my favorite bloggers, Jen, recently wrote a post about the differences between style bloggers and fashion bloggers. I think this post exemplifies why I agree with her assessment on the difference and why I am firmly in the “style blogger” camp and not the “fashion blogger” camp.

This is me, in all my simple, wrinkled, slightly-damp-from-the-kiddie-pool-at-the-dog-park glory.

Tee – Target | Skirt – J. Crew Factory (similar) | Shoes – J. Crew Factory (similar) | Purse – Le Tote (same)

I wore this outfit to work paired with a denim jacket. Then I took off the denim jacket because it was 85 degrees outside and I was riding a Divvy bike home. Yes, I rode a bike in a pencil skirt. Yes, I have helmet hair.

Yes, I take pictures after work when I’m a little rumpled. Yes, sometimes I have my husband take them with my phone camera.

Yes, I’m a real person who wears real outfits that aren’t always full of pattern mixing or unique items or avant-garde item pairings.

And I hope that’s why you like me.

You’re my hero if you wore that to the dog park and didn’t get dirty/muddy! Also, the reasons you listed are most likely the reason you’re the only style/fashion blogger I follow.

For better or worse our dog park is entirely concrete and Astroturf. There’s a water fountain, a hose, and a kiddie pool. So, I tend to get wet more so than muddy 🙂 In fact, on this day I accidentally poured water into my shoes while trying to fill up the kiddie pool. Thankfully since it was 80+ degrees outside they dried out quickly.

Definitely why I like you 😉 I can’t say I really follow any “fashion bloggers” but I do follow a few style bloggers. I’ve probably said this before but I like your posts because your style is approachable and give me ideas for things I can actually wear to work (and other places) . Plus I’ve ventured out a little bit more into pattern mixing.

I’m convinced your dog park must be a magical place where someone cleans all animals before they are returned to their owners. A white shirt AND skirt? And flats?! And yes, this is 100% why we like you 🙂

Ha! When you live in the city there just aren’t that my opportunities to get muddy. Also, I’ve gotten really good at dodging jumping puppies 🙂

That’s exactly why I like you! Or at least why I like your blog – there are plenty of other reasons to like you as a person! I find it a zillion times more useful to my life to see something I could actually wear (or would even want to wear) than some cutting edge trendy outfit I couldn’t afford, or wouldn’t want to wear even if I could afford it. I much prefer realness!

I love this blog because you do not follow fashion, but follow your style . A style suitable to the real life, who work and have a family, friends, animals. Not only advertising the latest trends (impossible to follow). And this is very nice!!
