SIA Outfit: Green and Gold Dragonfly

Office Appropriate Outfits - Spring · Style Imitating Art

I had several outfit ideas in mind when it came time to interpret this week’s SIA choice but since I was planning to wear it on St. Patrick’s Day I knew I had to wear my green pants.

The design on the dragonfly’s wings reminded me a bit of leopard print which is why I went with my leopard print shirt instead of just wearing the black sweater alone. Also, it was finally that weird temperature that allows you to layer up top and wear ankle pants. I think the secret is that it needs to be in the high 40s, low 50s all day. That’s Fahrenheit, by the way.

The necklace was a last minute addition but I think the black and gold, plus the shape of the baubles, nicely echo the shapes and colors of the brooch.

In other news, I got to hang out with Katie of Personally Paleo this weekend as part of her Core & Coffee series. It’s such a fun idea: workout together and then go get coffee or food and chat. We took a kettlebell fundamentals class at OTG Bootcamp and then went to Windy City Cafe. I won’t say much more but I’ll let you know when the full post is up over at Katie’s blog!

Also, don’t forget to check out 14 Shades of Grey tomorrow to see how all of us interpreted this week’s art!

I love the pops of animal print underneath the black sweater! Very subtle, but creative. I saw a ton of folks dressed head to toe in green leprechaun-inspired outfits on St. Patrick’s Day. Anything goes that day, I guess, as long as it’s green, right? LOL

What’s funny to me is that when you’re adult it’s like an unspoken rule. When you’re a kid you get reminded to do it and then it just becomes part of the routine, i guess!
