January Shopping Summary

Hey, remember when I said I was going to cut way back on shopping?

Yep. I did it! The only thing I “bought” in January were the Club Monaco faux leather leggings and I say “bought” because I got them c/o Shopbop credit for having their widget on my blog.

I’d be wanting to replace my current Vince Camuto faux leather pants because they’ve always been slightly too big in the waist. Although these don’t have pockets like I originally wanted, they are ponte material in the back so they fit better than full faux leather leggings. And, the most important thing, they fit in the waist!

So, that’s it. And because I didn’t buy myself anything else I was able to buy Jason a really cool birthday present.

The Vince Camuto pants will be going to the consignment shop shortly, along with several pairs of jeans and a few other things. But I won’t be using that money to buy anything, I swear!

Pocketless pants?!?! I suppose pockets may not look all that great with those sorts of pants, but man, I haaaaate it when clothes I expect to have pockets (pants, sweatshirts) don’t have them. Nice work on the shopping-free January, though! If you keep this up, your monthly shopping summaries will starts to look like mine (that is: nonexistent. Haha. Though I did buy something yesterday for the first time in…long enough that I don’t remember the last time I bought any clothes prior to that. October, I think, when all my jeans got holes in them?)

Bravo….well done Erin! I’m seriously impressed. I did ok this month, buying a few things but all somewhat justified and on track with my annual allotment. And just saw one item I bought went on clearance at Target so I can get a price adjustment. YEAAH!

And that is the WORST when things don’t fit in the waist. Often happens to me, loose waist, tight in thigh- UGH! Even more troublesome when that happens with yoga pants/leggings when you are bouncing about and they are falling down. Boo.

I think the key was just deleting all the sales emails and not looking around on websites when I went there to link to similar items for posts. Let’s see how long I can keep this up! But, considering I just spent like ALL my money on 12 more personal trainer sessions I don’t think I’ll be buying much anyway 🙂

Great job in January! I really like the ponte on back leather front look. And a good fit in pants is so important. No need to be tugging at the waistline all day long.
I was doing so well shopping wise-then I needed to buy some shoes for a wedding I’m in and a bridesmaid dress for another wedding!

That’s interesting. I have a pair of faux leather leggings in my consignment pile because they just didn’t work for me. These Club Monaco ones do look longer on the model.

Thumbs up for having a good shopping month in January.

These legging are a bit more difficult to put on than my pants (thanks to not having a zipper/button fly) but totally worth it because A. they are longer than my original pants (which are being featured in today’s blog post, actually) and I don’t have to wear a belt with them to keep them up!

My shopping in January was obscene. I love everything I bought, but since my last name isn’t Rockefeller I need to scale things way, way back. I’m planning a shopping fast for next month — looking forward to it!
