Matching your outfit to your bag

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

I’ve never been one to change purses. I’ve also never been one to buy a purse for myself. In fact, I think I can count on one hand the number of purses I’ve purchased. However, when I saw this Vince one during the last Shopbop sale it just called out to me.

So of course I put this outfit together with it.

Bag – Vince (same in black) (similar color) | Shirt – J. Crew (similar) | Vest – Old Navy (similar) | Jeans – The Limited (similar) | Boots – Sam Edelman c/o Shopbop (same) | Watch c/o JORD (same)

I was lucky enough to have some Shopbop credits to offset the cost of the bag, plus it was on crazy sale. It’s definitely an investment bag because of the classic shape and color, though, so I don’t mind that I spent more money on it than I usually spend on things.

This outfit, however, is one I wore when we were in Carmel, Indiana in December for the Caribbean Christmas Half Marathon. Which I ran. On a 60 degree day. Yes, in December. Weird, right?

Just a little bit different from the 5 mile race I posted about on Monday, right?

Anyway, I ran the race (which ended up being my fastest half marathon to date) and then we went to Bub’s Burgers, home of the 16 ounce Big Ugly burger. Which I ate. Which means I got my picture on the wall at Bub’s. So, if you’re ever in Carmel, Indiana go to Bub’s and see if you can find me.

I am a woman of many talents. Including putting together outfits that showcase my new purse.

P.S. I’m thinking of doing “Fitness Fridays” here on the blog since fitness is also a big part of my life. I actually started blogging as a running & fitness blogger and I kind of miss it. Thoughts on adding that into the schedule here?

LOVE that bag– worth some extra moolah, especially if you don’t change your purses all the time. I’m the same- only rotate them maybe 4 times a year at most (with the seasons), although now my purse is a diaper bag…

And YES to Fitness Fridays! Obviously 🙂

I typically only have one purse that I use all the time and then I have a few “dressy” purses for special occasions. In fact, now that I have this one I’ll be taking my previous one to the consignment shop!

Congrats on the PR! 🙂 I think fitness posts would be fun! I like reading a variety of things on people’s blogs! 🙂

Thanks! The course was hilly, too (at least in the last three miles), so I wonder what will happen at my next race in February. It’s in Florida so I suspect it will be flatter.

I am a chronic purse-changer. I primarily rotate between my black purse and my brown purse, depending on my outfit and how nice I’m trying to look (the brown purse is more casual than the black purse, in my opinion). But both of my purses are TEENY TINY, so I can’t really store anything in them other than a small wallet, my keys, and my phone if I do some Tetris-like finagling. So I think that makes me less likely to use the same purse for everything, because for me it functions less as a long-term storage item, and more as a temporary way of carrying essentials, since girls’ pockets usually aren’t designed for that. My work bag, on the other hand, is where dreams go to die. I have so much unnecessary crap in that thing. If my purse situation were more like my work bag situation, I would definitely not be a purse-changer.

I remember you posting about that bag, though, and it inspired me to get similar sized bag from H&M for Christmas. I was a little self-conscious about how big it turned out being, but seeing the size of your bag in this photo makes me think maybe it doesn’t look as overwhelming as I thought it did. And man, it’s SO nice to have a purse than I can use for more than just wallet transportation.

And I’m all for Fitness Friday as well 🙂

LOVE that purse! The shape is amazing and it’s definitely going to be a piece you can use forever. And I would totally support Fitness Fridays over here 🙂

Oh gosh. So many things sound interesting to me, actually – fitness fashion (and more than just what’s cute, but what’s functional!), fit food, fitness favorites (like your favorite playlists for running, or your favorite workouts for non-gym days, or your favorite goal-setting and goal-keeping tips)…anything, really!

Gorgeous purse!!! I have a bunch of purses at home and I do love how the right purse can be the perfect accessory to an outfit. In reality, though, I am usually too lazy to swap all my stuff from one bag to the other – so I end up using the same “neutral” bag most days.

YES YES YES YES YES on Fitness Friday!!! I miss your fitness blogging!!!

    1. Erin @ Loop Looks Post author

Yeah, the swapping is a pain which is why I don’t usually bother. I always end up leaving something important in the wrong one.

Anything in particular you’d like to see on Fitness Fridays?
