SIA: Sunrise at Sunset

Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter · Style Imitating Art

This past weekend Jason and I went up to Lake Geneva so I could run a 5 mile race and party with Valerie and friends.

I know this photo is out of focus, but I think it looks kind of artsy, right? Anyway, I ran a great race and then we danced for like four hours (the race started at 2:30 pm). When you’re in your mid-30s there aren’t a lot of chances to drink beer and dance, you know?

Sadly, I did not win the dance competition (although I know who did….) but I had a really fun time regardless.

Anyway, when we got home on Sunday afternoon I wanted to snap a quick photo of the outfit I’m wearing today as inspired by Jen’s Style Imitating Art pick. The painting she picked is called “Sunrise” but we grabbed these photos at sunset.

Blazer – The Limited (same) | Top – French Connection (same) | Jeans – Old Navy (same) | Boots – Cole Haan (similar) | Necklace – gift (similar)ย

In my year-in-review of outfits, Jen commented that this top stuck out to her. I think it’s because it’s clearly the perfect thing in my closet to wear for this painting inspiration! However, I do tend to wear it in very similar ways every time.

Evidence? Here you go:

P.S. Can we talk about my quads/hamstrings in that center photo? I mean, I know I’ve been working on them but, dang. I think it’s probably those that got me to my fastest 5 miles ever on Saturday. Seriously, guys, weight lifting has made me such a better runner it’s crazy.

You really do look amazingly fit. And I’ve loved that shirt since you got it awhile ago. I think my favorite way you wear it is with the cardigan, but that’s because I’m just partial to them myself ๐Ÿ˜‰ Happy Monday!

That top totally reminds me of art! And so does the photo– the blur is kinda cool! Tell Jason thanks for taking photos– we forgot our SD card wa waaaaa. And congrats on the race- I bet you will crush your half marathon at this rate– the strength training is clearly working wonders!

If you’re serious about wanting to lift more, I’d be happy to help you out! Especially since I’m considering getting my personal training certificate. Would be nice to have someone to be my guinea pig ๐Ÿ™‚

Congratulations on your new PR!!! I am LOVING hearing how all the lifting has helped your running. Keep it up, Erin! Is any video available from the dance contest? Would love to see it!!! Incidentally – I wore that French Connection top via Le Tote once and LOVED it. It’s one of the few pieces that I’ve asked for them to resend me. =)

BEAUTY BAR. They do various 80s/90s, New Wave and Prince & Michael nights. It can get a little crowded, but at least the music is familiar.

I suppose the benefit to the S-No-W Fun Run dance party is that the beer is basically free and you can stumble back to your hotel room when you’re done ๐Ÿ™‚
