Coffee and Donuts

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

Last chance to vote for your favorite outfit of November!

Recently Carylee of More Pieces of Me posted a fun outfit on Instagram and I immediately thought, oh, hey, I can do that!

And it wasn’t until I was already wearing it and taking pictures that I realized that I’d basically worn the same thing in a different color scheme to the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year.

This time, though, I wore it to walk to work. I don’t usually walk to work but there’s a reason I did last Friday.

There’s a walk-up coffee, doughnut and gelato window in my neighborhood that’s on my way to my office if I walk. It’s called Bombobar, it’s part of a restaurant called Bar Siena, and on Friday they were offering free coffee and “bombolinis” (aka filled doughnuts) to members of the Windy City Blogger Collective. Sadly, when I arrived on Friday morning to get coffee to enjoy on my walk to the office they weren’t quite ready to be open. But, I’d already committed to walking to work so walk I did. It’s about two miles and I chose these TOMS specifically because I knew I could walk that much in them.

I stopped and got my coffee and doughnut on my way home, though! Jason and split a PB&J bombolini for dessert and I saved my coffee for breakfast the next morning. Not sure if that’s gross or not but it’s what I did.

Chewie, however, was very interested in my “prop” during our photoshoot.

After having the PB&J bombolini I decided I wanted to try the Salted Caramel one that everyone was raving about. However, once again I stopped by Bombo Bar on my way to work yesterday around 7:15 AM and there were no employees to be seen. I rang the bell and waited a minute but the only movement I saw was a cleaning person hosing off a mat in the kitchen. So, I walked to work sans coffee (and doughnut) again. But! There was a happy ending. Bombobar saw my disappointment on Twitter and brought me doughnuts and coffee at work! My coworkers were very appreciative.

Oh snap! Do you think they’ll do the same thing if I complain on Twitter about not being able to get there in the morning? Or, you know, ever? If any of the donut shops in downtown wanted to deliver donuts to me at my office, I would be the most appreciative person in the entire world. I would sell my blogging soul and turn the whole thing into an advertisement for their donut shop, because man, if any of them were willing to schlep it all the way out here, they’d deserve that!

Well….they are open late and, unlike other doughnut shops, they don’t run out because they make them fresh when you order. So, you could always stop by after climbing 🙂

But, yes, it’s too bad none of them will deliver to your office in the sticks 🙂

Super cute outfit! Love those shoes – they are so unique!

That was really awesome of Bombobar to bring doughnuts to you! That is some amazing customer service. I still have yet to try their bombolinos (my WCBC membership didn’t activate in time for me to hear about the deal last Friday) but I hope to do so soon.

BTW – I discovered this morning that Firecakes Doughnts are AMAZING. Three thumbs up! =)
