Pinterest Parallels [Vol. 12]

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Fall · Pinterest Parallels

I’ve been feeling really uninspired with outfit creation lately. Even though I feel like everyone is all atwitter about fall and fall outfits, changing seasons always throws me for a loop when it comes to getting dressed.  Cool in the morning but warmer in the afternoon is not something I’ve ever been good at. What do you do with all those extra layers you take off later in the day?

Anyway, when I feel uninspired I turn to Pinterest. Today’s Pinterest parallel outfit comes direct from Aubrey at Putting Me Together. I saved this photo almost a year ago with the idea of wearing it with my cobalt blazer. Instead, I ended up wearing my cobalt cardigan.

Cardigan – J. Crew (similar) | Top – Banana Republic Outlet (similar) | Jeans – American Eagle Outfitters (same) | Shoes – Loeffler Randall c/o Shopbop (similar

I suppose, though, it’s almost time to bust out my scarves and my vests. And maybe finally figure out how this layering thing works.

UMM I LOVE this. Love it, love it, love it. Every single thing about it. Cardigan, top, jeans, shoes: yes please to all of the above. (And Chewie, obviously 😉 ). How do you get your cardigans to fit so nicely? Mine always get so droopy at the collar, and I think it makes me look schlubby (not that that stops me from wearing them, of course. I just wish they looked nicer when I do wear them, rather than like something that’s two sizes too big [which they aren’t, unless I should be wearing children’s sized cardigans, and I don’t think that’s the case!]).

Hmm, I guess I’m not sure what you mean by getting droopy at the collar. Have you looked to see where the shoulder seams hit on your shoulders? If they’re too high or too low that could affect the fit of the collar, perhaps.

Or maybe it’s just because I have slightly broad shoulders and that keeps the collar in place? I honestly don’t know!

Love this outfit!!! The mixing and matching of the colors, textures, and neutrals is so simple, yet so classic! The shoes are especially adorable. I am obsessed with non-neutral flats these days. =)

One day I looked at my shoe rack and realized almost every pair I owned was brown, black, navy or gray! So, I decided to add some color. So now I have these in addition to my red flats. And my leopard flats, of course 🙂

I love your love of this color whose name I don’t know. Cornflower? And it’s still surprising to me that “grown ups” are wearing American Eagle jeans but they seem to be of surprisingly good quality for a younger store.

I wouldn’t have thought to try American Eagle jeans except for the fact that I was offered the chance to try them for free last year. They fit surprisingly well! Granted, I avoid the “jeggings” and stick with the regular jeans but I guess it just goes to show I shouldn’t ignore a store just because I think I’m too old.

Now, if the sizes were still in “odd” number (3,5,7) I wouldn’t even attempt it. Junior sizes definitely no longer fit me!
