Midi Skirt Musings

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

This past weekend my friend and neighbor had a party on our building’s rooftop and I was debating on what to wear. Yes, I know, it’s a party. With beer. And barbecued meat. There was no need to dress up. So, although I was originally thinking of wearing a skirt, I went with shorts. And then wore the skirt to work.

And, to be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about this skirt. Is it a strange length? Do midi skirts look okay on me? Should I have left the top untucked? Or does it look just fine and I’m a head case?

Actually, it’s probably the latter. I will say, though, that I was originally struggling with what color to wear with it on top. White felt too boring but none of my other tops seemed to work with the temperatures. Then I remembered I had this green camisole buried in my drawer and it was the perfect solution. Toss on the white cardigan for the office and I was good to go.

I’ve always been unsure about midi skirts too, but you pulled it off so well! I think it would work with navy too, or a white top and a jean jacket!

The white top and jean jacket was going to be my default, but I wanted something different. Of course, I still stuck with white 🙂 Not sure why I didn’t think about navy other than that I only have one solid navy top!

I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before, but I am in. love. with that camisole. The ruffles are clutch.

I think your shoes make all the difference with that midi skirt (or any midi skirt, for that matter). With where those skirts hit, I think it would be SO easy to look like you have stumpy legs, but heels solve that problem real fast. I don’t normally like midi skirts, but this outfit looks great!

It’s interesting because a friend of mine on Twitter said she thought this would look better with flats! Maybe I’ll try it that way before I send it back to Le Tote just so we can compare.

Ehh…I hate to be the voice of dissent here but I’m not a fan of that skirt. Something about it is very hip-grandma-going-to-church. I think you can totally pull off the midi skirt + waistband-skimming crop top look though.

Hahahah, I love the honesty! Because that was sort of my initial vibe, too. Maybe if the print was different it wouldn’t look so grandma-ish?

I haven’t worn a crop top since….junior high or high school. Still not sure how I feel about their resurgence 🙂
