The Naps Have It

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

Another weekend spent doing things other than taking blog photos. I know you guys forgive me! Instead, I was planting flowers with my mom on my balcony, celebrating a friend’s birthday, completing a duathlon (run-bike-run), and doing some indoor climbing.

I know, right? When do I sleep? How about when I pass out on our couch in the middle of the afternoon.

I’m actually really bad at naps. No, wait. I take that back. I’m REALLY good at naps (seriously, our couch is like some sort of nap warp zone). I am not good at waking UP from naps.

Still, I love napping on our couch after a morning of getting stuff done. Whether that stuff is planting flowers or running and biking. I mean, I know I should probably be doing other stuff, like outfit planning or pre-making all my salads for my lunch throughout the week. But when I lay down on the couch it’s lights out.

And you know what? I’m totally okay with that.

I HATE waking up from naps. I hate it so much I generally choose to not even bother napping. Unless the whole nap process is 100% organic (I fall asleep accidentally and wake up on my own instead of being woken up by something like an alarm), I feel so, so, so miserable when I wake up from a nap. My stomach almost always hurts and I’m uncomfortable and grumpy and just generally feel terrible (for the first 30 minutes or so – then I feel just fine). I don’t understand why that happens, but since it does, I’m much more of a “lay here quietly doing something that requires no energy and pretend it’s like sleeping” sort of person than a “take an actual nap” person when the need for napping arises.

Oh, yeah, naps definitely need to be organic. And even then sometimes getting up from one is a struggle! I just feel so groggy and out of sorts for like an hour. And a bit grumpy, too. Jason loves when I nap 🙂

How’s the J. Crew grey striped tee working out for you? It’s slightly different from the grey striped one I got last year — yours is more of a heather-y grey. Your outfit looks cool and comfortable — love the pops of green and blue against the neutral grey. 🙂

Believe it or not, this is actually the first time I wore this top! I wanted to wash it and dry it first (it was still a tad too big) and then it got warm and it just hadn’t gotten worn yet. It’s comfortable, though! So it’s got that going for it. Interestingly, the stripes seem to be printed on and not woven in as part of the fabric so it will be interesting to see how it holds up over time.

Thanks, Jodie! I wasn’t sure if the shoes were too matchy-matchy with the necklace but I like them instead of the gray I was thinking about wearing.

    That’s sarcasm, right?
