Things to Celebrate

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

Two weekends ago Jason and I drove to our hometown to do a little celebrating. And what exactly were we celebrating? My mom’s retirement! And this is what I wore to her shindig.

It ended up being a chilly, drizzly day so even though I originally wanted to wear a fun dress or my red skirt I went with jeans instead. Sadly, this necklace didn’t come from Le Tote until after the party so I just recreated the outfit for work and added some sparkle.

I’m super excited for my mom and I hope she uses her free time to catch up on her scrapbooking, traveling, and finally finding the perfect cake recipe (suggestions are welcome, I’m sure).

Other things to celebrate? Chewie’s one year anniversary with us! Yep, we adopted him one year ago yesterday. Crazy how time flies.

Awww, look how little he was!! Such a baby boy. I mean, he’s still my baby boy, but he’s all grown up.

He got some treats from (appropriately named, no?) to celebrate.

He’s so funny when you give him a hard treat that requires chewing. He takes it very gingerly from you and runs off. He kind of rolls it around in his mouth and then drops it. And then picks it back up. He repeats this for a minute or two and then he usually starts crying. You should see it when we give him a bully stick or a rawhide. It’s both pathetic and hysterical. Of course, after the hysterics he always eats whatever it is, but it does take him awhile. I can’t wait to see what he does with his new dental chews. Thank you, for the treats!

Pretty sure it’s going to be the new normal for him to show up. It just works out better that way with our current schedules. Good thing he’s so photogenic πŸ™‚

It’s so funny that you don’t notice how much they’ve changed when you see them every day. I was walking him to the park a few weeks ago and this random lady walking her dog stopped and said, “Oh my gosh! He’s gotten so big!” I mean, clearly she recognized him from the neighborhood/dog park but I didn’t really know her. Clearly, though, Chewie made an impression on her!

Congrats to your mom! That is very exciting! I hope she finds the perfect cake recipe! I have to admit I just make my cake from the box so I have no recipe suggestions!

      Thanks, Sarah!

I showed those side-by-side pictures to my husband and he claims he can’t tell that Chewie’s gotten SO MUCH bigger. I think he’s crazy that he can’t see it!
