The shirt dilemma

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Spring

Okay all, I need your opinion. I think I’m in love with this shirt from Le Tote. It’s not like anything I have in my closet, I love all the colors, and I can think of a bunch of ways to wear it.

white-blazer-french-connection-top-2Shirt – French Connection via Le Tote (same at Bloomingdale’s) | Blazer – Forever 21 (similar) | Jeans – American Eagle Outfitters (same) | Necklace c/o Rocksbox (which you can still try for free with code looplooksxoxo) | Shoes – Jessica Simpson via Poshmark (similar)

white-blazer-french-connection-top-3So why haven’t I bought it already?

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth 60+ dollars. I mean, it’s really just a polyester shirt! I’m basically paying for the brand at this point. But, I mean, I really like it.

I also really like the necklace but it’s similar to one I got for Christmas. So, I’m torn there, too. Although, with my Rocksbox credit it would be only $15….

white-blazer-french-connection-top-1I know, right? First world problems for sure. Which is why I’m turning to you, friends. Tell me: should I spend the money or no?

The shirt is worth the money if 1-you wear it a ton! and 2-you don’t have the time/patience to go looking for it at a cheaper price!
The necklace….how similar? If it’s the same coloring, I’d say send it back! jodie

ps…make sure to tell us the verdict!!!

I say keep it all!! The top will work well on so many levels, the necklace leans toward the classic Egyptian look and will work summer and winter………….Besides, what’s $60 in a lifetime? If you love it, and I do, keep it all!!

I think if you already have a necklace similar to that one, you could probably part with the current one without too much distress. What I wouldn’t part with, however, is those shoes, because they are AWESOME. Not that that was the question, but that’s a killer pair of shoes!

Do it. I’m sick of having a wardrobe full of “good enough” pieces that were more about the cheap price than my actual love for the item. My goal (once my budget can support it), is to have a smaller wardrobe full of pieces that I love. I’ve been getting more and more ruthless with myself regarding what I’ve been listing on Poshmark and ebay lately. More and more stuff that I kept out of justification and not actual want (and good fit) are getting listed.

I say go for it. How often do you find a top that you truly love and that you’ll get a ton of use out of? On a per-wear cost, it’ll be much more affordable than those more-affordable shirts that we aren’t nearly as excited about!

Eh, personally I wouldn’t buy the shirt. The mix of the bright pattern and (what seems like) a really trendy cut would mean that I would tire of it quickly. But again, I think my style is way more boring than yours. $60 for something that I knew I could wear in several ways? You bet I would go for that!

You should absolutely keep the top! You look beautiful in it – the colors are gorgeous. And just think – you could wear it dressed down a bit for the weekend with your fave – white jeans!! Think white jeans, flat black sandals, and if it’s cool, a casual long- or 3/4-sleeve cardigan, casual sweater, etc. There are many colors in it that you can pull out if it to pair with for future outfits.

I would say pass on the necklace if you already have something similar. As for the top, some polyester feels better than others. If it feels really good and you don’t have anything like it in your closet, than I say it’s a keeper. The colors are so beautiful and it looks really good on you!
