Why I finally added graphic tees to my wardrobe

Casual Friday

When I worked in a business casual office we sort of had an unwritten rule that you shouldn’t wear any shirts with words on them. Unless, of course, it was a shirt from the university bookstore (yes, I used to work at a university). So when I’d see gals online wearing cute graphic tees with fun jewelry and jackets I’d get sad. I didn’t even own any graphic tees that weren’t from some running shoe manufacturer that I got for free in a raffle or from a race.

But now at my current job I can basically wear whatever I want. So, I do. And the first thing I decided was that I wanted to add some graphic tees to my wardrobe.

So I did.

red-tweed-jacket-graphic-tee-3I originally saw this top at Milk Handmade, a local boutique, but they didn’t have my size. So imagine how excited I was to find it at the One of a Kind show I went to back in December. I’ve since included this top in my 12 Pieces, 12 Ways post and I get excited every time I think of a new way to wear it. Which is why I included it in my Top 10 Remix Challenge.

The tee has a little heart where Chicago is which I think it appropriate. I never EVER thought I would end up loving the city so much. I never thought of myself as a big city gal. But, it turns out, I am. I may not stay in Chicago forever, but I will love it forever for many reasons.

Sharing this Top 10 Remix outfit with Sarah who started this whole thing. This post has TWO of my pieces in it which I think means it has to be shared.

I have that tee too! I love the way you’re wearing it. I got mine at Inkling in Lakeview which is also an awesome store if you haven’t been. It’s on the long list of reasons I love IL forever even though I no longer live there ๐Ÿ™‚

You look so hip with that graphic tee! I will have to go check out Milk Handmade sometime – I remember you mentioning it once or twice before, too. Incidentally – have you ever been to Tribeca on Madison? I’ve walked by it so many times and keep wanting to go inside, but haven’t done so yet. It’s right near CrossTown!

Hello from a fellow Erin! I love this look. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m in the same boat you used to be in. I work at a university, and while the dress code is pretty relaxed, I can’t wear shirts with wording (unless it’s a university tee, and even then only on casual Fridays and more laid back events). So, I don’t own a lot of graphic tees. I’m loving the pops of red in your outfit. And I’m having major layers envy. It’s already in the 80s in Florida, so I’ve pretty much packed away my jackets and blazers until the fall. *insert deep sigh*

I’ve worn a graphic tee under a blazer for casual Friday before! I think it’s totally fine. And adorable. And I love this tee because I’m a big fan of Chicago too, even though I don’t live there ๐Ÿ™‚
