Conflicted about camo

Is there anything in your life that you like but you feel bad about liking? I feel that way about camo print. I love the way it looks but I feel so disingenuous wearing it. Like, the only people who should wear it are those in the military or who are military veterans.

But, it’s also just a fun print!

camo-jeans-marsala-sweater-3I admit that I bought these jeans on sale in January and last week was the first time I wore them. And I felt both awesome and self conscious all day. Of course, it did help that there was another girl at work also wearing camo print jeans so I didn’t feel totally out of place.

I have lots of ideas on how to wear them so hopefully I get over my weird hang-up and just admit that it’s a print. I mean, people wear plaid who aren’t Scottish, right?

If you were wearing like full camo print maybe it would be a little weird, but I think one item of camo print is great! It adds some visual interest, right? I think those pants would be a great addition to my work wardrobe!

Now that I can wear jeans to work every day I’m always looking for ways to add interest. So, yes, if you’re in the same boat then these would be a great addition to your work wardrobe 🙂

Ah! I thought I was the only one! I have a hard time with camo but mainly because I live in an area with a lot of military people. So I run into people wearing camo for their job out and about every day. I would just feel like I’m playing dress-up or something if I matched them. I don’t think I would have an issue with it if I lived in a less-military town but…as much as I love the print on others (and I love it with the burgundy like you’ve done here)…I just can’t.

I have this issue too but for me it also reminds me of where I grew up in a small country town. A lot of hunters wear camo and somehow it then became common for anyone to wear it. I’ve never wanted to copy that style so I avoid camo. My dad has a few camo hats that he wears (he’s not military or a hunter) and I just don’t get it.

I LOVE these pants! Too bad they are out of stock right now 🙁 So much fun versus regular jeans or colored denim–something different without being too busy of a print or pattern, ya know? And they pair so well with maroon and cognac! Perfect for your office too since you can dress down a bit right?!

JK- they aren’t out of stock…I think I saw the missing image and red text about “final sale” and assumed out of stock. YAY! Would you say they run true to size? And the modern rise comes up a little more than a low rise right?

They do run true to size in the waist (if maybe a bit large as all Loft pants do) and, yes, the modern rise is a bit higher. Order them in tall, though, if they have your size! I ordered them in tall and I know you’re taller than me!

Well, considering the last time I was at the NEX with Robert, I bought the standard-issue hoodie sweatshirt that enlisted members get for working out, for myself in my size, I don’t think you should feel bad about wearing camo pants. I did feel weird wandering into the “uniform” section of the NEX, instead of just the usual Navy Pride section. But all of the Navy Pride sweatshirts were … cheesy. I wanted one that matched Robert’s 🙂 And I asked Robert if it was OK for me to do so, and he said yes, so, there you go. Wear all the camo you want.

I feel the same way! My olive green skinnies ripped earlier this week, and in my frantic hunt for new ones (still unsuccessful) some camo ones have popped up that have been really tempting!

Oh no! That’s so annoying when something bites the dust but finding a replacement is difficult. I hope you find some, soon. I think Old Navy might have some in their current spring line…

I have always been unsure about wearing camo too – glad to see I’m not alone! Can’t wait to see how else you style the pants 🙂
