Originally the only plans Jason and I had for Valentine’s Day were to sit on the couch, order a pizza, and watch Netflix. Yeah, we’re pretty awesome.

But then my brother invited us out to dinner with him, his girlfriend, my sister and her husband. Oh, and by the way, it was like -15 with the windchill. Time to layer!

I scoured Pinterest for an outfit idea that would allow me to wear as many clothes as possible and landed on this burgundy sweater, gray scarf, and jeans outfit from Swank and Dapper.

I’ll have you know that under my cardigan I had on a tank top and a long sleeved top. Under my jeans I had on a pair of leggings. And of course I was wearing wool socks.

Also, the appetizers were amazing and those who got tacos enjoyed them. Jason and I had burgers but weren’t that impressed. I’m still thinking about the fried cheese curds and the pretzel sticks, though.

By the way, Chewie did not want us to leave and was doing his best to get in all the photos.

Notes: cardigan is from January 2013 and the scarf was a gift last year. Jeans and boots are from fall 2014.

HAHAHAHAH! We took an Uber Black and somehow my BIL who is NOT from Chicago ended up in the front seat and the poor driver kept asking him if he preferred if he took a specific street or if he wanted us to go another way. Not sure why Division and Damen is so hard for drivers!

In Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada (aka, the Chicago of the North, or Winter-peg, Manisnowba), I would layer a down puffer hooded coat over that outfit right now as our temp is around –22 C with windchill. Very cute. Hope to try some of the great restaurants featured on your blog some day. We have good ones too, including RAW Almond, a pop-up multi-chef effort in architecturally designed tent like digs located on the frozen river that operates in Jan and Feb only.
