Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

Yes, it’s another reminder. Vote, please?

Jason was watching the movie Office Space on Sunday. Have you seen it? One of my favorite lines is, “ I did absolutely nothing, and it was everything that I thought it could be.”

That was my weekend. And it was glorious. I actually didn’t change out of my lounge clothes all day Sunday and since I’m pretty sure you don’t want to see pictures of that, here’s an outfit I wore to work last week.

leather-leggings-letote-scarf-1Sweater – J Crew Factory (same) | Scarf – Le Tote (same) | Pants – Vince Camuto (similar) | Booties – Sam Edelman c/o Shopbop (similar)

I don’t typically wear all black and, this is going to seem weird to say after my crazy pattern mixing post, sometimes I just want one pattern to stand out. Such was the case with this Le Tote scarf. I originally thought about pairing it with my new striped top but, in the end, I went with all black.

I do love the way these faux leather pants look because they add much needed texture and interest to certain outfits. However, they are HUGE in the waist. Huge. And they kind of make a weird swishy noise when I walk. But I like them too much to care, really. The waist thing is annoying because I don’t always like belts. But I’ll make the sacrifice.

I have the same problem as you with pants that fit in the legs, but are too big in the waist. What is up with that!?!? It’s even a problem with things like my workout capris. Grrrr! I hear you on not always liking belts, too. For me, belts sometimes add unnecessary bulk to my waist. I struggle to find belts that don’t create bulges underneath form-fitting tops!

Beautiful scarf, and love the texture that the pants add to the all-black ensemble!

Darn us and our athletic legs! I think it was Apollo Ono who said he had to get his jeans custom made because he couldn’t any that were small enough in the waist but big enough to accommodate his thighs. Apparently clothing companies still think that waist and leg size correlate perfectly.

I STILL need to find a pair of faux leather leggings (They’ve been on my wishlist for like a year). And all black is a perfect winter look, because winter white eventually just becomes winter dirty.

I like this – a very sleek look! One question on your booties (as I am in need of some non-knee high black boots or booties)- do you think yours would look odd or peek through as booties under a pair of dress pants? I really like the skinny pant look you’ve got with the booties, but also need something that’s good in a more dressy situation.

I think it would depend on how high up your dress pants come when you sit down. Or are you just concerned with when you’re walking? I like my dress pants to almost touch the ground so for me that wouldn’t be a problem with these.
