Flywheel Giveaway (aka why I need to find a tailor)

Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend a complimentary class at the newest Chicago Flywheel location in the Old Town neighborhood. Since I was there to workout I didn’t take a lot of photos but here’s a post-workout group pic.

Anyway, even though I’ve been really active for the past 7 years with running and marathoning and gymming I’ve recently decided to see if I can build some more visible muscle. To that effect I’ve been doing a new regiment of strength training paired with high intensity interval cardio. Flywheel is a perfect fit since it’s an interval training spin class with some light weights thrown in.

Many of the bloggers in attendance were a bit apprehensive about Flywheel since they’d heard it was intense. Well, yes, it is. And if you choose to have your name shown on the “torq board” it can get a bit competitive. But, just like many fitness classes, you get out what you put in.

And Flywheel Sports was nice enough to give three of my readers the chance to try it themselves! You can win a free class along with some swag.

I’ve been on my new exercise and diet plan for about three weeks now (with a few cheat days) and I’m already finding that several pairs of my pants are getting a little big around the waist. Especially this red pair which has always been a bit big there anyway.

I had to jerry-rig some kind of system with a belt and a safety pin to keep these pants up! I refuse to give up on them so it’s time for me to find a tailor who can take in the waist but leave everything else the same. I may be losing inches in my waist but all those squats and deadlifts and Flywheel classes are surely not shrinking my butt and thighs!

    Nice to see that Flywheel agrees with you, and yes, you should definitely make nice with a tailor. I’m quite a ways from any Flywheel location, so I’ll stay away from the giveaway so as to not cheat someone out of a better chance.

    I love running but since injury prior to the Chi marathon (ran anyways and PR’d) I’ve been spinning which has been awesome on my angry ankle!

    I’m really intrigued by this! I’ve never been a huge fan of traditional spin classes but I always love trying new class formats. Trying to decide what “new” fitness classes I might try to take when I’m in Chicago next week if I can fit them in with all my work obligations 🙂

    I have not tried a spin class but am needing to change up my routine of pilates and yoga. Hope this is a good match for me.

    I went to Flywheel a couple of weeks ago (my first spin class ever!) and enjoyed it much more than I expected. While I really like running and circuit-based classes, I liked how Flywheel pushed me much more than I ever would’ve pushed myself if I had hopped on a bike on my own.

    My favorite is running but now that marathon is over I’m looking for other ways to exercise. I heard flywheel is a challenge but really fun!
