Le Tote plaid shirt with faux leather leggings

Tote-al Honesty

Office Appropriate Outfits - Fall

As I mentioned last week, I’m currently trying out Le Tote, the service where you “rent” clothing for a month. One of my picks was this flowy plaid printed top which looks like a cotton flannel but is actually 100% polyester.

I honestly wasn’t sure what I wanted to wear with it so I threw on the first thing that came to mind: my faux leather leggings.

And then I honestly wasn’t sure what shoes to wear. Black would be the obvious choice. Maybe red. So I went with leopard. Of course.

I think I like the idea, but not the execution. The top is super comfortable but it might be too boxy. I thought about layering it under a sweater (it’s certainly cool enough right now) but it’s also rather long and I thought it would look odd. So, while I have it from Le Tote I might play around with it some more.

What would you wear with this top?

Hmmm. I’m always wary of belting tops at my waist because I feel it just accentuates my short torso. But maybe it would look kind of like a peplum top if I tried that.

Kandi said what I was going to… maybe adding a belt?

I really like the pants though! I would never think to buy something like that, but they look awesome!

These pants are great because the front is faux leather but the back is stretchy and had pockets! They also have a real zipper fly, button, and belt loops so they’re more like pants than leggings.

I DEFINITELY think you could get away with layering it under a sweater. I see plaid + sweater + tight bottoms (either skinny jeans or leggings) + riding boots on Pinterest alllllllll the time when it comes to fall outfit ideas. I imagine that look may feel a little too casual for you for work, but it could be a great Saturday/Sunday outfit if you weren’t feeling it for the office and really want to keep the shirt!

I actually added jeans and riding boots to wear it to a meeting on Tuesday night and I thought about adding a sweater as well. I’d definitely wear that to work at my current job. I might try that next week for work before I send back the Tote.

I agree, it is kind of boxy. I dunno what I would do with it, other than send it back. How are you liking Le Tote? Are you going to do a review of the experience?

Since this is just my first Tote I don’t know if I can really write a full review. I’ll definitely be getting another box or two before I make a final decision either way.
