Houndstooth dress with blue cardigan and black riding boots

Dress for Dinner

Office Appropriate Outfits - Fall

Last night I went to dinner at Sepia and I have to say it was one of the nicest dining experiences I’ve had in awhile. If you’re in Chicago definitely put this on your list. And considering I walked there from my office it’s definitely within walking distance of the hot tourist hub of River North.

So, since I knew I was going out to dinner, I decided to wear a dress!

Of course, I made the dress a bit more casual with my flat riding boots. I actually don’t wear these boots all that often because they are SO TIGHT on my 14.5″ calves. Why do most riding boots have a 14″ shaft circumference?  Who are you skinny calfed people? Show yourselves!

Anyway, I’m definitely still on the lookout for a new pair of black riding boots.  And then I can sell these to someone with tiny calves.

Live in Winnipeg, MB., Canada, aka the Chicago of the North. Sepia looks very interesting. Ever been to Alinea or Next?

Hail to the need for riding boots with wider circumferences!!! I’d wear my riding boots a lot more if they weren’t so doggone tight on my calves, too! What kind of socks are you wearing underneath the boots?

Very cute dress. I can’t quite tell if the dress is navy or black – I THINK it’s navy. Assuming so, I love the contrast of blue hues!

Never been to Sepia but heard great things about it!

It’s actually black and white, but black and white with cobalt is one of my favorite combinations.

I’m hilariously wearing a pair of McDavid compression socks under my boots 🙂 I was hoping that they would make my calves smaller so the boots would fit better. No such luck.

I have giant size calves and can not wear most boots. Last year I bought a pair of Frye’s in extended width and it fits so well. I can even were thick socks with tights too. These boots look good on you and doesn’t look tight in the pics but I know how it feels if you have a snug fitting boots.

Thank you so much for joining TBT Fashion link up and I hope to see you this Thursday.

I found a really cute pair of brown riding boots this weekend from Steve Madden and they were on sale. When I tried them on I could barely get them to zip up all the way and I had bare legs. Womp womp. So I settled for a gray pair from a different brand but they weren’t as cute
