Puppy Update (and an outfit)

Casual Friday · Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

If you don’t follow me on Instagram or are friends with me on Facebook you might have missed that my puppy Chewie hurt himself at the dog park two weekends ago. Nothing too serious; he basically scraped up his leg while attempting to jump onto a concrete ledge.

Jason took him to vet last Thursday for one last check-up and he was given the all clear to lose the bandage. Thank goodness because keeping Chewie from eating it was driving me crazy!

Anyway, they got done at the vet about the time I was getting home so I met them in the courtyard outside our apartment building for some outfit photography. With the iPhone. Because I forgot to bring the camera.

You can see his healing scrape in this photo. Poor baby!

We haven’t been able to take him to the dog park in almost two weeks because he had to keep the injury dry. As you can imagine, a 10 month old puppy who loves the dog park is going a bit stir crazy without his outlet and daily dog-on-dog interaction.

It’s a good thing he’s so cute.

I feel like a bad puppy momma because we haven’t taken Izzy to the dog park yet- but plenty of trails so that counts right?! Hope Chewie is healing nicely! (And love your outfit by the way- so carefree but chic!)

Chewie just loves playing with other dogs so much. And he loves the wading pool at the park. He’d probably live at the park if we let him! But he’s horrible on a leash so I don’t see many trails in our future 🙂

Puppppppppppy 😀 Is he still growing? He looks bigger than I remember! Glad he’s on the mend, and, from the looks of it, avoided the cone of shame? Although maybe that could’ve made a cool guest post…”How to Style Your Cone,” written by Chewie, of course 😛

      How to Style Your Cone
      By Chewie

      1. Wait til your mom puts the cone on at bedtime and puts you in your crate. Thrash around and make her worry about you.
      2. Manage to get your cone off while in your crate. Eat part of your bandage. Chew up the edges of your cone.
      3. Make your mom try using a sock over your leg to see if that keeps you from eating your bandage. Inform her that it’s WAY more fun to pull the sock off after she puts you in the crate.
      4. Act this way until your dad comes home and takes you for a follow-up vet appointment where they give you a new cone.
      5. Show dad how you like to thrash around in your crate with the cone on until it comes off.
      6. Get to sleep outside the crate for the first time in your life. Cone is totally worth it!

Basically, he ignored his bandage until he was in his crate and bored. So we only put the cone on him at night.

And, yes, he might be getting bigger. He still weighs under 40 pounds, though! Well, 39.5….

Such a cutie! (Even if he does put paw prints on your white jeans.) I’m dogsitting this week for my friend Stephanie — you’ve seen here in various SIA round-ups — and her yellow Lab is sooooo sweet. But of course, when I get home, I have to let our kitties sniff the hands and clothing so they know what’s what. 😉

On the clothing end, I think you look really relaxed and cool. Those silver shoes really stand out!
