SIA: Pink and Olive

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer · Style Imitating Art

Once again, this week I am accidentally participating in the Style Imitating Art challenge.

Originally I was just looking for something fun to wear to work and then to a meeting with my professional organization. I settled on this look from Valerie over at The Style Files. But then I got to thinking, wait, doesn’t this week’s SIA challenge painting have similar colors?

Sure enough, it does!

Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May, by John William Waterhouse, 1905 as chosen by Jess of Animated Cardigan.

Although, to be honest, this was not my favorite outfit ever. The white top was too bulky, the skirt irritated me by spinning around on my walk home, and the shoes made the bottoms of my feet feel like they were on fire after just a mile.

The concept was good, though. Olive and pink is a great combination. So, don’t discount it just because this outfit didn’t work for me.

Love this! I forget to pair pink and green like this…I’ll have to keep it in mind!
I’m intrigued by the SIA challenge…how does one participate? I’m always looking for new outfit inspiration and challenges.

The SIA challenge is easy! You don’t even need to write a blog post 🙂 Just follow Jess at Animated Cardigan, Jen at Librarian for Life and Style and Salazar at 14 Shades of Gray. They rotate who picks the painting and they typically put up a new one every other week.

Just take your pic of your inspired outfit and send your photo to that week’s host by the following Monday. If you write a blog post you can include the link, too. Super simple!

Pink + olive are great colors together! I really do need more pink in my life. And what is the deal with skirts spinning around on one’s body? I have some dresses that do that, too — I’ll look down halfway through the day, and the bottom half is wrenched around one way. Odd.
