Leopard Saves the Day

Office Appropriate Outfits - Summer

Don’t forget to vote for your favorite outfit of June!

Is everyone ready for the weekend? I sure am! I found out that I get off work at 3PM today because tomorrow is a holiday. And my day is packed full of meetings so I know it will go quickly.

Continuing my trend of dressing up more than I have to, I decided I wanted to wear these lace ankle pants but struggled with what to wear with them. I tried my blue and tan tie neck blouse but something just wasn’t working for me no matter if I tucked it in or left it untucked.

So, since I know that I like wearing this leopard print top with white I tossed it on and ended up liking that from a distance the pattern mixing is subtle but up close you get a nice visual contrast.

I ended up adding a sheer tan cardigan (last seen here) while in the office and really liked the overall palate of neutrals but with pattern.

I have no plans for the Fourth of July since my husband has to work (yay for holiday pay!!) and this will be our puppy’s first Fourth of July so we have no idea how he’ll react to fireworks. I sense we’ll be staying in and watching tv. Exciting life we lead, right?

Tell me what fun things you’re doing this weekend so I can live vicariously through you!

I am loving the new outfits you are putting together to bridge office and casual style. I work in a business casual environment and your new outfits hit the right chord for me. (Not that I didn’t love what you wore in the past).

I really like those pants! Normally I not much of one for patterned pants, but the lace is subtle enough that I don’t find it overwhelming. Very cute!

I’m pretty much doing nothing for the Fourth, either. Normally I do ALL THE THINGS, but this year looks very low key. I will be baking, though! 🙂

OMG I love those shoes!!!! I’ve been hunting for some sandals that have closed backs. And I love wedges.

We’re heading out to Hammond for our friends annual backyard party/BBQ/pool if it’s warm enough/hot tub when the sun goes does/fireworks are legal in Indiana.

These are really comfortable, too. I bought them to replace a similar pair that I wore into the ground over a few summers. Clearly they are a great choice.

Oooh, I LOVE this outfit! Subtle pattern- and texture-mixing, and this mix of neutrals looks lovely on your olive skin. It’s early days, but this might turn out to be my favorite for July.

I also live in a more casual region and work in a more casual workplace, so I am often the most “dressed up” person at work (tennis shoes, jeans, athletic jackets, etc.). I also work on the public side of things. But I don’t mind it, because what’s of primary importance is that I’m comfortable in what I wear. And I definitely feel comfortable feeling “put together.” And it’s fun to witness how some of my colleagues have slowly come to pay more attention to what I wear, and then to what they wear. 🙂

I admit I wore a t-shirt, jeans, and a cardigan to work one day and felt totally underdressed! I just don’t think I can do it even if I am the most well-dressed person. Our employee handbook says to wear what makes you comfortable (within reason) so I think I’ll stick to wearing my dressier stuff 🙂

Oooh love this look! I have to recreate this soon…I love how the bottoms lighten it all up but the cognac sandals tie the tank color back in- so well coordinated! Any races for you this weekend? My parents are visiting this weekend (we went to Lake Geneva and did a boat cruise and dinner) then a 5k today and then cousins are coming over on Saturday. Trying to be outside as much as possible!

I could totally see this with our snakeskin print top, too.

I did run a race on Friday morning (4 on the 4th in Elmhurst) but just wasn’t feeling it. So, it wasn’t my best race but it was nice to get outside. My new work schedule has been taking its toll on me and all I want to do is sleep!
