Have you voted for your favorite outfit of April yet? I’m surprised by the results so far! Will your vote change that?

Welcome to Monday! Did everyone have a good weekend? Remember last weekend when I ran that half marathon? Well this weekend I didn’t run one but I did work at one. Yes, I worked on Friday and Saturday at the Wisconsin Marathon and Half Marathon handing out race packets, answering questions, doing some crowd control at the finish line, and cleaning up after the race.

Which basically means that Sunday was spent recovering! And outfit planning, of course. Today’s outfit is my interpretation of the Style Imitating Art painting for this week chosen by Jen of Librarian for Life & Style:

Lawren Harris, Tamarack Swamp, Algoma, c. 1920, oil on canvas

I decided to pull out the blues and the tans in the painting and then accent it with my purple-ish bubble necklace. Now, some people out there might be saying “Bubble necklaces are SO 2012.” And I say, so what? Seriously, I’ve only ever seen one being worn “in the wild” (aka not on a blog) and whenever I wear it I get compliments. Which to me says that the general public is not over them yet and still find them unique. Which means I’m still going to wear mine.

The joys of not being a total slave to trends is that you don’t have to revamp your entire wardrobe every year, right? And you can keep remixing your items! Like I did with this blue dress.

Also, if you want to see how others used this painting to create an outfit, be sure to visit Librarian for Life and Style!

I have another white blazer that’s more summery but I don’t like the way it fits. Seems like finding a white blazer that doesn’t look like a lab coat is a challenge!

Are those fishnet nude tights? LOVE those!

And thanks for being such a rockstar volunteer this entire weekend- I thought I heard you scream my name at the finish line 😀 Wish I could have connected with you and the others but my family was in town visiting my cousin, who goes to Carthage so we had to sneak out…

Yes, they are! I love them for days when it’s a bit too chilly for bare legs but my outfit just won’t work with colored tights.

And I did scream your name at the finish line 🙂 You really rocked that race for sure!

Ahahaha “in the wild.” I like it. Honestly, I think statement necklaces like bubble necklaces are really just coming into what everyday people wear, so I say rock that bubble necklace until you no longer can 🙂

I also really like the painting this time around! Makes me want to go to the mountains.

The colors in this painting are so beautiful and vibrant yet subtle at the same time.

And I will definitely rock this bubble necklace for as long as possible. It was difficult enough to track down!

“In the wild”! LOL! 🙂 You know, I didn’t know about these until you told me, and I bet most of the people you see irl (except maybe your on trend boss) don’t know either, so keep rocking the necklace! I really hope people wouldn’t stop wearing something cause it wasn’t trendy anymore… why buy it in the first place? 😉

There are some items that can definitely date an outfit but right now it seems like all the trends are happening at the same time. So let’s just wear our entire closets and not worry about what’s in magazines!

Super cute! I have a green bubble necklace which I got inspired to wear today after reading this post. Who cares about it being from 2012, right? Love the white jacket and its contrast against the blue and all the other neutrals.

The statement “bubble necklaces are SO 2012” is amusing me, perhaps more than it should. I know they’ve been around for a while, but I don’t find them to be too dated or anything, and I can’t imagine them going away anytime soon. But, this coming from the gal who just bought her first pair of skinny jeans last year. I’m not great at keeping up with trends or things coming in and out of style 🙂

Anyway, this shade of blue is really pretty on you! It looks so great with your coloring.

Admittedly, I think trends change much faster in style blogs than they do out in the real world. But, I’m trying to dress for the real world!

You nailed this interpretation! And that bubble necklace – so unique in color, I can’t stop looking at it! It’s beautiful!
