Although you wouldn’t know it since the city of Chicago turned into a giant frat party on Saturday, today is actually St. Patrick’s Day. Or at least that’s what I’m told. I’m also told that if you don’t wear green on St. Patrick’s Day you get eaten by snakes. Or pinched. Or something.

Anyway, this is the outfit that H&K Style Journey and her friends chose for us to interpret for the holiday.

It took me a long time to come up with something to wear today that was inspired by this. Our Chicago temperatures are not going to allow for bare legs or short sleeves today so this summery outfit will have to wait.

Instead I decided to layer this dress with a sweater, tights, and a scarf. I don’t think this particular dress has made it to the blog before beyond a quick snapshot from last October. And I don’t think I’ve ever worn it to work. But it layers well and the faux leather accents add some extra visual interest so I have a feeling that it might show up more often now that I can think of more ways to wear it!

“Erin Go Scarf” is amusing me 🙂 I recall a couple years ago it was like 70 out for St. Patrick’s Day, but no such luck this year. I guess I’m okay with layers and tights for a couple more weeks. Speaking of layering, this dress looks like it was always long-sleeved! I never think to layer under dresses, it’s a nice alternative to throwing a sweater on top.

I was just thinking about how I am not wearing any green toady and might get pinched! If… Steven knew he was supposed to do that. Ha ha.

And of course, this weekend, I was thinking of our crazy long run from this weekend, last year (with all the nutso crowds, getting to the lakefront!).

You nailed it on the head- St. Patty’s day IS a giant frat party!! And that scarf is gorgeous- definitely the focal point of the outfit!

Haha it really is a giant frat party. I live in a college town and all the students are out of town for spring break so we’ll see how crazy it gets tonight!

I LOVE that scarf – I think your interpretation of the look is perfect given the weather!

Haha it may have been a frat party but I certainly enjoyed it. Also almost forgot that today actually is St. Patrick’s Day… Enjoying the slight twinge of green that’s still left in the river this morning

I so badly wanted to return the dress I borrowed from you before today, since it seemed like a totally appropriate thing to wear for today. Then I was injured AND sick on Saturday, so I didn’t go to dance 🙁 One of these days I’m going to get that dress back to you, I promise! I’m actually going to be in your ‘hood this weekend, but I imagine you won’t be. Annnnnyway, super cute scarf–it’s a nice touch of green without being all OMG ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!–and the title of this blog post is one of my favorites ever.

Cute outfit for today. I didn’t wear green today and it has been pointed out to me several times…. 🙁 I totally forgot.
