How do you fix a boxy fitting shirt? Well, short of getting it tailored you wear a jacket over it. I swear, is there anything a jacket or a blazer can’t do?

As I mentioned the last time I wore this shirt it’s rather boxy on me. But, I loved the way it looked with this olive green jacket so by pairing the two I was able to tone down the square shape of the shirt. Oh, I also ironed it, too, in case you were curious.

All of that to say, if you have a shirt that fits kind of strange try wearing a jacket with it. If the jacket is tapered in at the waist a bit you’ll find that it gives you more shape than the shirt alone.

Oh, wait. I can’t end this post without mentioning my hat. One of my best friends, Rae, made it for me and I’ve been wearing it pretty much non-stop since December. It’s super warm, cover my ears, and looks cute, too.  So, thanks Rae!

Originally she forgot that I have such a tiny head and had to fix the sizing on it last spring. But now it’s perfect for the winter we’ve been having. Plus, it’s the only hat I own that fits over my ponytail so it’s perfect for walking to the gym 🙂

thanks! And for the record, I didn’t forget she had a small head, I just didn’t realize how big my head/hair is compared to everyone else…

Hopefully if you recreate it you do a better job tying your scarf than I did! I really should just sit down with one of those youtube videos and practice.

You have such a wonderful friend, I was just going to remark on how adorable that hat is and that’s even more awesome that someone made it just for you. I love a good olive green jackwt so this outfit is a total win. (those leather shells seem to be really tricky, I’ve been looking for a while and most of them seem to be really boxy, huge in the waist and crushingly small in the hips and bust.)

Also, I’m getting famous! It may be a little late now, but don’t forget to advertise that I take commissions! 🙂
