As of February 1, 2014 this here blog has been around for two full years! That’s right, two years of seeing my face almost every day. Two years of getting my picture taken on a regular basis. And one year of you voting for your favorite outfits!
The outfits above range from January 2013 to December 2013 and are the favorites as voted on by YOU! That’s right. Those were your favorites. What have I learned from this? You all like me in skirts. Wait. Are you sure you aren’t all just my husband voting from different computers?
Anyway, what else have I learned over the past year?
1. Using a DSLR (thanks, hubby!) results in generally better pictures, although sometimes I can capture some awesome moments with my point-and-shoot as well.
2. Planning my outfits out a week in advance REALLY helps streamline this process. In fact, having an editorial calendar helps me out a lot.
3. I still love putting together new outfits and sharing them with you.
I also feel as though I’ve gotten a better handle on my goals for Loop Looks. Yes, I want to continue to grow my readership. But I am not going to get stuck in the comparison trap. I may not be the best at writing how-tos and giving scores of advice like Putting Me Together (who is an awesome source of inspiration for anyone looking for more casual outfits). I may not have the photography skills of Katie in Alaska. I may not be making much money ($50 a month though isn’t too shabby) or getting collaborations with amazing brands but, you know, that’s not why I’m here.
I’m here for two main reason. The first is you, my readers. I’m here to give you ideas. I sincerely hope you can look at the outfits I post and think “Hey, I have something similar in my closet. I never thought to wear it that way.” Although, selfishly I still get a huge thrill out of someone sharing an outfit with me and saying I inspired them. Chills, I tell you.
The second reason is that I have learned SO MUCH over the past two years. Including learning how to use Hootsuite, affiliate linking and search engine optimization. Getting more involved on Pinterest and Instagram. Figuring out if I can game Facebook to get it to actually show you guys the things I post (which is more than just the same outfit photos you get here).
And I just want to keep learning. This blog is my creative and experimental playground but I want to make sure I’m giving you what you want. I mean, otherwise I’m just writing with no purpose!
So, tell me, how do you feel about Loop Looks on it’s two year anniversary? Take the survey below! (or click here if it’s not showing up)
