Two Pieces, Two Ways- Day 1

Welcome to Two Pieces, Two Ways: A Chicago City and Suburbs Remix that my fellow blogger Valerie of The Style Files and I are doing this week. When she mentioned that we both had this snakeskin print top from Kohl’s* and these burgundy LOFT pants we knew we had to show you our own take on how to wear them.

Valerie lives and works in the Chicago suburbs while I live and work in the city. But, as you can see, both places can be fashionable!

Today is simple. The pants and the top together. Valerie added a perfect camel blazer and seeing that I wish I had thought to throw mine on. Next time! I went with easy and just wore the top with the pants.

Tomorrow we’ll be showing you how we each styled this same top two different ways. Then Wednesday? The pants get to shine! I hope you’ll visit each of our blogs for outfit details and to see what we think of each other’s outfits.

*Valerie generously sent me this top last year so of course she knew I had it!

What a fun post series! I laughed a little at your comment that the suburbs can be fashionable too, since obviously I am when I work in the ‘burbs. But… yeah, a lot of people at my office just don’t seem to care or try at all (in part, probably because of our “casual” dress code – why bother?).

Hahaha, I know there are a lot of people in the city who don’t care or try, too. But maybe in the city people don’t ask “Why are you so dressed up??” if you wear a dress. Ugh, I hated that when I worked in a small town.

That’s totally what happened to me when my office first went casual, but I was still primarily wearing business casual (so, dresses and non-denim pants). Like what are YOU all dressed up for? Some people even kind of criticized me, like I was trying too hard or thought a lot of myself or something. But I’m just more comfortable in dresses and skirts! No one says anything anymore, but it is weird that anyone even thinks to comment on that.

You know what’s hilarious? I literally saw 4 other people wearing these same colored pants in the one block walk from my apartment to my train stop. Must be popular!

How fun! I am really excited to see how you both style the top and the bottom. Love the color of those pants, too. They are a nice semi-neutral hue that can pair well with so many other colors!
