Normally on Monday’s I do Inspiration Monday with Two Birds Boutique. You all know that I love to use inspiration photos to help me come up with outfits but for some reason this week’s Monday inspiration photo was just not inspiring me.  Instead I  had an outfit in my head based on a Stitch Fix blog post I saw last week. A blue dress with a white button-up shirt tied over the top? Yep, I have those pieces. And I loved that the blog post showed how to take a simple dress and layer it up to create six different outfits!

So that’s what I wore. My brain is not firing on all cylinders this morning (although, let’s be honest, when is it ever on a Monday morning) so I needed something simple. And my husband even told me that my outfit was “cute”. He couldn’t quantify it beyond that, but I’ll still take the compliment.

Also, this morning I took 9 pairs of pants to the dry cleaner. Nine! So hopefully once most of my pants are clean I’ll start wearing something other than blue again. Although, no promises.

I continue to be impressed with the shirt-over-a-dress outfit idea. I always think you’re wearing a skirt! I should really try that combination some time. I like that necklace a lot as well — the embellishments on the strands really add a nice touch to it.

Wearing something over the top of a dress is a great way to get dual use out of it. Especially if you have summery dresses you want to wear in the winter (to, say, church or something).

I don’t even think I own 9 pairs of pants! Maybe if I counted jeans, but still.

I really like this outfit! It IS cute! I especially like the pearls against the white shirt! I would never have thought to go monochromatic like that (I see that was in the posted you linked too), but the white-on-white is a really cool effect.

Oh, lord. I’d better not tell you how many pants I have that aren’t at the dry cleaners! Although, I have been thinking recently that it’s time for some of them to move on…

I agree; it’s a cute outfit! How often do you take things to the dry cleaners? Do you have a regular schedule, or do you just realize that you’ve gotta’ do it and take everyone at once? (I have never gotten anything dry-cleaned, so, yeah.)

I am so lazy about taking things to the dry cleaners. We even have one IN our apartment building and I pass one every day on the way to and from work and yet I just let it pile up until I have no clothes left 🙂 I refuse to iron, though, so I usually have a huge pile.

Hah, I hate going to the dry cleaners! I managed to find a nice gentle soap so I wash most of my silk blouses by hand and line dry them but pants are a little trickier, it seems like they’re always “crunchy” if I line dry them.

This is such a pretty outfit for being so simple, the lines are nice and clean and I love this particular shade of blue. (It looks amazing on you with your skin and dark hair.)

I don’t iron so anything that requires ironing goes straight to the dry cleaner. And by “straight” I mean it sits in a pile on my dresser until I get sick of staring at it and take a giant armload of stuff to get cleaned.

It’s too early to start wearing pants! Ha ha. That is one of the things I don’t mind about warmer weather – wearing skirts 🙂
