Yesterday I mentioned that I was meeting Jen from Librarian for Life and Style for the first time! And, to commemorate this meeting, I decided that today I would wear an outfit of hers I pinned and have been waiting to recreate.

Perfect for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, right? I left off the gray cardigan and wore my bright red shoes and a red necklace instead of the red belt but I kept the polka dot skirt and the striped top. Two of my favorite patterns to pair and I’m pretty sure she feels the same way.

And that must be why Jen and I got along so well! Two peas in a pod, we are. 07012013_blogger_meetup 001_edit 07012013_blogger_meetup 011_edit

Notice that I am wearing heels. Jen is wearing flats. She is still taller than me.

Hanging with Jen was a lovely way to start my week and I was sad that our time together was so short. I suppose now it’s my turn to plan a visit to Portland! navy_stripes_navy_polka_dots_3

P.S. This is my last post this week as part of Sarah’s Real Life “Pin to Real Life” challenge. But I have some fun stuff coming for the rest of the week!

Did anyone tell you guys that you kind of look like sisters yesterday? At least, you do in the pictures!

This is a perfect outfit for 4th of July! I still haven’t gotten on board with pattern mixing, but this looks like such an easy way to do it.

This skirt and this top together are probably the best way to dip a toe into pattern mixing for someone who isn’t comfy with it. Same colors, similar scale and neutrals (white and navy). Who says you can’t wear stripes and polka dots together??

Fun outfit! Do you think you could still mix dots and stripes if they weren’t navy?

I hope you guys get to meet up again soon! 🙂

As long as there is one color in common it would be fine, I think. For example, a black and white polka dot skirt with a black and white striped shirt.
