So, uh, Chicago. In June. It’s a fickle time of year. The sun is out and warm but the air temperature is cool. So even if I wanted to wear a dress as summery as the one in today’s Inspiration Monday to work it was not going to happen today.

But that’s okay. Because that means I got to wear my new skirt (details coming on Wednesday)!

After feeling like I was all pencil skirts all the time I’ve been looking to branch out. The key, though, is making sure that the skirt isn’t too full or too long lest I feel like a ballerina or like it’s accentuating my hips. This one was an online purchase that worked out in my favor. I’m already looking forward to other ways to wear this skirt.

Although, I realized when putting this outfit together that I don’t own any brightly colored heels! I think I will be using my Sole Society credit to remedy this situation. What color do you think I should get?

Yeah I totally agree on the pleated skirts– they are either too poofy or full, making my hips look HUGE! I love yours– it’s super flattering! If I were you, I’d get a fun summer color for heels like coral– love that shade (but only if you could remix it with other stuff you already have!)

It might be the wide waistband on this one that helps keep it looking streamlined. And for $35 it’s a steal!

Not sure about coral because I don’t own anything else that color. Maybe pink?

What a fun look! So pure! 🙂 hee hee 🙂

Would you wear a dress that short in the inspiration pic to the office? I am guessing no 😉

Great outfit – very fresh, airy, and feminine while still being work-appropriate. 🙂
I have a pair of pink shoes that go surprisingly well with different outfits!

This is so gorgeous! You could go out after work in this. I would love to have that skirt in my wardrobe.

    Way to go!

Wow! That shirt and skirt go so perfectly together, I really thought you were wearing a dress! Guess that’s what happens when you buy similar pieces from the same store. As for skirts, I’m a biiiiiiiig fan of more flowy skirts vs. pencil skirts. I feel like I can barely move in pencil skirts (and that they are a bit too hug-y where I don’t necessarily want them to be hug-y), whereas flowy skirts for me are so much more comfortable, especially when it’s warm. Although I guess not so much when it’s windy…haha.

Shopping at the same store almost all the time certainly helps! Still, I was surprised at how well these two items went together considering I bought them months apart.

I just really like this outfit, it does have lace in it! This is such a pretty outfit, I love the lace top with the swingy skirt. I understand what you mean about trying new silhouettes, I’m trying to branch out and try some of the same things, I feel like I’ve been all short-poofy skirts all winter. 😛

Its going to be fun to see all of the different outfits you come up with for this skirt, it really is so pretty with the shimmer.
