Good morning! How was your weekend? Mine was super busy. It included, in no particular order: running with Anne, riding my bike, getting a new tattoo, making cookies for a bake sale, re-decorating Kelsey’s kitchen with pictures of Nicholas Cage (don’t ask), having brunch with my parents, and helping Valerie with blog stuff. So, as you can see, I didn’t have a lot of time to think about what to wear for the week.

So, once again, I depended on Two Birds and their Inspiration Monday photos. If only we could all look like Gwen Stefani every day, right?

I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying. The top is starting to feel too short and I may be looking to replace it soon. Funny, isn’t it, how items can feel perfect for years and then one day you put them on and you think, “Eh, this isn’t really what I like any more.”

Still, for a sleepy Monday morning an easy all black outfit with a few interesting accessories was simple to pull together. I used to love wearing all black and now it’s not really my style, either. But for the sake of not having to think, I’ll just go with Gwen.

Gorgeous look! Yeah if in doubt or in a time crunch, always use an inspiration photo from a celebrity since their stylists do all the work for you! So simple but very polished at the same time!

And what a busy weekend indeed! Thanks for coming out to suburbia to help me out–you are the BEST!!! :-)

PS- your tattoos look ah-ma-zing. I love that idea to get one for each pet!

I have a bad habit of loving how items fit for years and then hating ALL of them ALL that the same time. Haha. Like right now! Soo over all my warm weather clothes…and it’s only May! Problem.

I’m really impressed with how professional you made such a casual outfit! Good work!

That’s typically what happens to me when the seasons change, too. What do you mean I have to wear these clothes? I haven’t worn them in a year and now I don’t like any of them!

Wow, you were busy this weekend! Now I’m especially glad you were able to fit in a run! Or that my kitchen wasn’t the one redecorated in Nic Cage ;)

Somehow when I do all black, it never looks quite right. This just looks crisp and sharp and perfectly office-appropriate – maybe it’s the visual interest that the shoes add?

Must be the shoes. All black can look harsh or too much like a costume but I think if you break it up with different textures or a bit of pattern it keeps it looking less like that.

Too hot for all black! Oh wait, your office is freezing cold. :) And you don’t work outside :)

Not to be mean (since you know I know NOTHING about fashion and always ask you for advice) I can see why you say this is not your style! It is very simple and “sleepy” Monday! ;)

I almost grabbed a white cardigan but threw on the light blue one at the last minute (basically because it was on the top of the sweater pile). I agree, though, the light blue is closer to denim than white would be.

How fun, a new tattoo! It does sound like you had a busy weekend, but busy is good sometimes.

I know I always say this but I love your takes on these inspiration mondays, Gwen’s look is a tough one to pull off but I love how you took the various elaments to make it look so wearable!
