Yes, it’s Friday and yes, I could be wearing jeans. But I’m not. Instead I decided to break out my sequined pencil skirt. Why? Well, I have a luncheon to attend at the Chicago Cultural Center for my job’s Distinguished Service Awards. At first I was super excited thinking that I’m getting some kind of awesome recognition. Turns out it’s just because I’ve been at my job 5 years. Still, it’s an excuse to wear something a little out of the box, don’t you think?

Plus, this afternoon Kim and I are going to trapeze class together! It will be her first time and I’m so excited to share my new-found trapeze love with a friend. That calls for a celebration in my book!

Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming. Just like the last time I wore it, I wanted it to be part of the outfit, not an in-your-face statement piece.

Pink sequined skirt, oatmeal cardigan, nude heels, white blouse

Linking up with AJ for Friday Favorites since if you click the link in the post you can see another way I’ve worn this skirt!

I love this! You’re still all-business on top, and then party in your skirt – so a sartorial mullet, but in a good way 🙂 I really like how you’ve toned the sequins down for work.

Have fun at your luncheon! It sounds better than the certificate I got through interoffice mail for my 5 year anniversary 🙂

I will say, the place I work does know how to do it up for events! In fact, I’m actually on vacation for our annual all-company “picnic” and I’m really bummed that I’m missing it!

Love this outfit! Have fun at the luncheon! Service awards are a big deal at my office. Some people are there 35+ years!

This skirt was one of those things I asked for for Christmas because I knew I’d never buy it for myself. Such a fun, but not totally practical, piece.

I am obsessed with this pencil skirt. It is amazing! I love how fun, yet subtle it is! Stopping by from Work Your Wardrobe!

I love how you style sequences! (That was on purpose, I swear.) Hah, that aside, you do such a delightful job of making sequins look so fun and appropriate, I never get a “new years” only vibe from you outfits. (Sequins are really hard to break out of the festive mode!)

Trapeze class sounds like so much fun!
