Welcome one and all to another Monday morning! Are you looking forward to this week? How about this post? Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to this lace dress that I’ve come up with yet.

But first we have to talk about the fact that the weather in Chicago is really schizophrenic right now. Hence the fact that I’m back to wearing a coat. At least it’s my spring coat.

Which is from the Gap Outlet YEARS ago, in case you were wondering.

Anyway, I’ve worn my lace dress quite a few other times on the blog and even winterized it twice before (here and here…and for some reason we tend to end up in front of this red door when taking pictures of me in this dress). I didn’t LOVE those two iterations, though, but today’s I like.

Inspired by today’s photo at Two Birds I decided to put my navy cardigan over the lace dress so that I could stay warm without wearing my denim jacket all day.

And because nothing classes up an outfit like leopard and pearls, I added them both. Overall, I like that the navy cardigan gives the illusion of slimming down the sides of the outfit and also gives it kind of a colorblock effect.

This inspiration photo, though, has me thinking about more casual ways to wear this lace dress this summer. Now, if I only I had places or reasons to wear casual dresses I’d be all set!

LOVE THIS. I’m a big fan of belted cardigan + dress combinations…mostly because literally the one time I came up with an outfit idea all on my own, it was a belted cardigan + dress, and I was so proud of myself hahaha. Anyway, I think the leopard belt especially adds an awesome touch to the outfit.

A cardigan and a dress is pretty much my work uniform, so I definitely like this look 🙂 The leopard belt is a nice touch! I like this better than a denim jacket for sure. I mean, I like the look of a denim jacket, but they’re just not comfortable to wear indoors all day (maybe it’s just me?).

I wear dresses in casual settings all summer – mostly because it’s too hot for anything else! Pair this with some flat sandals and a fun pair of earrings and I think you’re all set 🙂

I really like this look! The cardi looks so sharp over that dress! Great contrast!!! And it looks better on you then Emma Rossum 🙂

I love this look, Erin! I have a similar cream lace dress, and would love to recreate this outfit! Added it to my Pinterest board!! 🙂

Great take on the inspiration! The combination of leopard and lace is genius – I’ll have to figure out how to pull off the same combo with my lace top. 🙂

Oh wow, I love this! (Well, I do love a lace dress, no surprise there.) I really like this idea of pairing a longer cardigan with it, it looks very effortless but still really polished and it’s such a different look that it would have been if the cardigan had been a regular length. This is totally lovely, I can see why its one of your favorites ways to wear the dress!

I like this look. I wore a belt over a cardigan and dress for the first time recently and it felt a little weird but I think it looked nice.
I wear casual dresses all summer long. It’s interesting to me to think about making somewhat formal dresses and making them more casual. I’ll have to look in my closet and see what I can come up with.
