Blazer – Forever 21 (similar) | Pants – LOFT (similar) | Shirt – Gap (similar) | Necklace – NY&Co (similar) | Shoes – Eric Michael

In the horrible lighting in my closet these two blue pieces looked similar enough to pass as a crazy colored suit.  In actual sunlight, though, they are just a bit off. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about that.  Maybe it’s cool because then it looks less like I put on a blue suit? Or maybe it’s cool because everything is in the same color family and it’s just a great monochromatic look. Yeah, I’m going with that one.

Also, it was FINALLY nice enough to go take pictures down by Lake Michigan. I’m lucky in that my office is less than half a mile from the lakefront so on nice days it’s lovely to go for a lunch time run along the water or just sit nearby. Sometimes you have friends who will join you.

Hello there, Goose Friend!

So, what do you think? Too much blue?  Not enough blue? I actually have another outfit in mind for these two blue pieces with a different top that I just got via Poshmark so hopefully we decided the blazer and pants look okay together.

Finally, can I ask you another favor? Can you go to the BlogTrends website and vote for me to be chosen as their featured blogger for next week? All you have to do is click “Like” on my entry, which is #32 in the list. Simple!

First of all, is that an Arrested Development reference?
I really like this outfit! I think the blues look good together. Of course, I think this look would work with black or gray pants too. I really like that necklace/blazer color combination.

Yep, you got it! Arrested Development, for sure. Although, I admit, I haven’t really seen many of the episodes but there are certain lines that I find hilarious. Like that one.

Second Kandi on the post title. There’s got to be a better way to say that 🙂

I like all the blues together! The mostly white blouse breaks it all up, so I don’t think it’s too much at all.

Now I’m going to have that song I’m blue stuck in my head all day. You have a tendency to do that.

I’m on the fence about all the blue- I love the blazer with the polka dot shirt and blue bubble necklace though!

Trust me Erin it doesn’t look bad! It definitely looks like monochromatic chic 😛 Love that polka dot blouse..and that water!!!!!! It’s currently snowing outside my window..oh man I want beach weather! LOL xo

    Liking: Done and done!

I’m really scared of accidentally making a fashion mistake, so I staunchly adhere to the perhaps outdated rule of no two items of different shades of the same color. However, your “suit” looks really great, so maybe I need to give up on these “rules” in my head…it’s not like I’m lookin’ all great by following them, ha!

I read the title and thought “Oh wow, did Erin use bluing on herself? that would be so strange!”

Nope, it’s a blue suit! (The blueing only came to mind because I use to show a grey pony and I’d have to wash him and then put blueing on him to get the stains out of his fur and get him nice and bright. One time I left the blueing on too long and he ended up this bright blue-ish purple color and I had to ride in all of my classes on a blue/purple pony.)
I actually really like the two different shade of blue, its got a monotone thing going on! I’ve seen people wear really bright color suits that were all the same color and it’s a littler painful on the eyes, pairing the two different shades breaks it all up and still looks on purpose.
Aww, how cute is that duck? 🙂

There was a book I read growing up (can’t remember which one) where they talked about bluing and I had NO IDEA what it was. Now I only kind of understand that it’s some kind of liquid you use to make things look whiter. Right?

I like it! I pinned an outfit from another blogger awhile ago in which she was wearing various shades of purple. I think I have enough purple in my closet to do my own interpretation but have yet to do so. I also hate wearing matchy-matchy suits, so anything that resembles a suit without the stuffiness of head-to-toe in one color is a win for me.

I’ve done monochrome in purple before (purple top, purple skirt) and it was an outfit that got a lot of compliments. I think people like the all-one-color thing.

Come to think of it, other than my black suit I haven’t worn a matchy-matchy suit in awhile, either. Maybe it’s time to sell those puppies!

I like the two blues! The constrast is edgy! Do you think you could pull off this look in other colors?

    I voted for you!
