Welcome to another Monday morning! How was your weekend? Did you have Friday off or was it just like any other week? I ran 22 miles (yay marathon training), hung out with friends, and tried my hand at making a glass paperweight.

And now it’s Monday and back to work. I’m glad I have Two Birds and their Inspiration Monday series to help me pick out something to wear. I admit, when I first saw this photo I thought, “Yeah, right.”  Turns out, though, it was just the thing I needed to remind me to wear this dress.

However, I still can’t love the look of booties with bare legs on myself. So I have to give you the photo of what I prefer.

Which look do you prefer?  Heels or booties?

Also, I want to give you a head’s up on a fun series I’ll be doing next week with Jen from Librarian for Life and Style.

We’re going to be sharing our own takes on outfits inspired by one another! This should be a great way to see how you too could use someone else’s style to remix your wardrobe!  Be sure to follow both of us so you can see all the outfits.

I love the heels…I think the inspiration photo makes it work because of the print of the fabric and the tassles on the bag, making the outfit more relaxed. The print on your dress seems more structured/professional than the other one so I gravitate towards the heels. Super cute look! And I love that inspiration series idea- can’t wait to see what you guys do! PS- way to go on marathon training- wow!

Good point about booties being more casual and heels being more professional! Now I’m trying to think if I have any casual dresses I could try the booties with to see if I like it better that way…

I need to figure out more ways to wear this dress! I feel like I always wear it the same way. Although, there’s not really anything wrong with that, I suppose.

Hey Erin! You look very pretty in both takes but I think I prefer the shoes to the boots, they are so classic! That dress is awesome, why have you not worn it more!!! 😉

The heels, definitely the heels. Heels give a good line from hem to the ground, whereas the boots alsmot act like a stop sign to the eye.

Exactly! I don’t understand how some women seem to look okay with short boots on bare legs. Or maybe they don’t and we’re just seeing it in the media enough to slowly change our minds.

Oof, personally I have a hard time with booties in general, bare legs or not. I feel like they’re hard to wear with a skirt/dress in a way that doesn’t make your legs look stumpy. I don’t mind them with pants so much, but I definitely prefer the heel look with a skirt.

When I saw the title of this post I thought it was going to be weather related! I wore a skirt to church yesterday (I fortunately had lots of Easter-appropriate outfits to choose from, courtesy of a particular closet consultation 🙂 ) and since it was so nice I didn’t bother with anything on my legs — it was glorious! Although I guess it’s not really quite as warm today as it was yesterday.

I think booties are one of those trends that I might eventually get on board with, but waaaaaay too late (see: skinny jeans – I finally bought my first pair last year, a good 4-5 years into the trend! um, is it a trend at that point? Maybe not…). But for now, I’m loving the heels much more!

I only own two pairs of booties and one is a black pair that got in my head that I HAD to have in December 2012. I’ve ended up wearing them quite a bit but these tan ones are proving to be a bit more difficult for me to style.

Erin, you mind reader you! I have a dress almost exactly like this one that I’ve really been struggling to style and I was thinking of asking you for some advice on it and here you go and post a ready made out! (I even have boots like that!) Wooo, I’m so excited to try this now!

Ha, I guess you know I like it but I really do like this, the shades of green with the brown boots, it’s such a chill, effortlessly cool look.
