Lace Dress Take Two

Office Appropriate Outfits - Spring

Turtleneck – The Limited (similar) | Lace dress as a skirt – Marshall’s (similar) | Boots – Cole Haan (similar) | Belt – Target | Necklace – Groopdealz (similar) | Earrings – Bauble Bar (similar)

Last week I wore this lace dress as a skirt for the first time and wasn’t too sure how I felt about that outfit. But I didn’t give up!  No! Lace is very on-trend right now (I even saw an adorable eyelet lace dress at Old Navy yesterday) and I really wanted this sleeveless dress to work for colder weather. So, taking your advice from last week to add some black on top to balance out the black on bottom and using this and this as inspiration, I topped my lace dress with my black turtleneck, my leopard belt, and my black mini-bubble necklace.

Yes,  I know, it’s technically spring.  But the weather in Chicago didn’t get the memo and it’s still freaking cold here.  So a turtleneck is totally appropriate.

Although, to be honest, I’m not actually at work today!  But if I was, this is what I’d be wearing.  So what am I doing instead? I’m on my way to Cleveland, Ohio to visit my best friend from college! I’m sure much hijinks will ensue.  Well, at least as many hijinks as you can get up to when you’re in your mid-30s and one of you has a kid.

No, I don’t know who Joe is.

you know I’m jeal of your lace dress! I found the cutest one at Marshall’s yesterday that naturally fit everyone except for the length.

you look ADROBS in these pictures and outfit.

Love this look! If definitely works. And here in the DC area, it looks springy outside but it’s still so cold!

I really like how you’ve styled this! Black and white always looks good together, and I love this dress as a skirt.

I ordered the ON lace dress in teal and should be getting it within the next few days – it was too cute to pass up!

It came this weekend and I LOVE IT! I’m thinking of how I can dress it for work given the cooler weather, but I’m definitely looking forward to wearing it for non-work stuff this summer!

SUPER cute outfit. I love the belt especially! Really makes things interesting, in my opinion.

Also, those Old Navy dresses = LOVE. As always, your fashion sense inspired me, and last Saturday post-Get Lucky 7K I went to Old Navy since I was in the neighborhood anyway and knew they had a good dress sale. I really, really l liked your lacy dress, so when I saw they had some I picked up a couple to try on, along with a few other dresses. Lo and behold, the lacy dresses fit! As I think I’ve bemoaned my inability to find dresses that fit my body to you more than once, you should know that this is a Big Deal (the other ones, sadly, did not, but you can’t win em all, eh?). I bought two dresses AND while in the dressing room was like, “Oooh, so I could definitely wear this pink one with my pink cardigan, and both of them with my black half sleeve cardigan, and maybe if I can find a white cardigan [which I did…a cropped one], I could wear that with them too…Oh! And then I have those short sleeve cardigans from a few years ago, too, and I could definitely wear the pink one with the pink dress and the off white one with both of them! And then maybe I could find tights, and wear them in the winter….” Look at what you’ve done to me! I’m also super tempted to go back and buy even more of the dresses just because the fit me so well and that’s such a rare thing…especially since they have a black one online…and especially since I’ve been looking for a little black dress for, oh, like three years now and haven’t found one…what do you think? Would that style of dress work as an LBD for LBD-worthy occasions, or is it too casual since it’s cotton?

Thanks! A sweater over a dress is such a great way to make a dress work for more than just one season. Can’t believe I never thought to do that before this winter!

I really liked the outfit last week but I completely love this take, the sweater over it with the leopard belt is just fantastic. (Who needs a skirt when you have a dress?) That last photo of you is pretty great as well, so sassy today!

Yeah, that adoreable lace dress at old navy right now? It’s in my closet. (Haha and I’ve been so good with not buying anything from them but that dress was just perfect! And on sale right now.)

This dress works so well as a skirt! Who would have guessed? Looking forward to seeing how you style your new dress. Will we have to wait until the weather gets warmer?

Ha ha ha! I was going to ask about Joe 🙂

I think I like this look! Well, this and the purple version of last weeks. Ha ha.

I have never heard the word hijinks before. Hmm. Sounds like it should be in my vocabulary.
