Do you ever get an idea in your head and you can’t wait to implement it? That’s what happened with this gray and navy outfit.  I realized I hadn’t worn my striped blazer in awhile and got the idea to put it with my gray pants. So I created a Polyvore board to remind me to put the two together. The hardest part? Decided if I wanted to wear my navy crewneck sweater or my navy and white polka dot top.

Obviously I went with the polka dots. But you know, for someone who once despised navy I am continually surprised at how much of it I now have in my closet. Also, believe it or not, a few years ago I bought these pants to wear with one top. Now I want to wear them all the time (although looking at these pictures they need a date with the iron before I wear them again). Crazy how that happens.

Have you ever found yourself wearing a color you didn’t used to wear?

Believe it or not, I have 5 pairs of grey slacks, in various shades, and I have to work hard to NOT wear grey all the time. It is such a versitile color, goes with everything………….except browns, and I’m working on that!
    Nice outfit!

Thanks! Now you’ve got me thinking about how to pair brown and gray and if I’ve ever done it. I suppose I once wore a gray blazer with black pants and brown riding boots.

Well, I suppose I never used to wear orange, but during college I started wearing A LOT of orange. This may or may not have been directly related to the fact that my school’s colors were blue and orange and that I acquired no less than than nine orange t-shirts during my time in college haha. I don’t have any “real clothes” in orange or yellow though…I just don’t think they do very much for my pale skin/on-the-red-side-of-auburn hair, you know? Navy’s definitely a tricky color for me as well, though. I think I only own two navy “real clothes” items (sweatshirts and sweatpants are another story…once again, thank you, college haha).

I was totally this way with brown. For years I didn’t wear it at all because I didn’t think it suited me, I didn’t think you could wear it with black, and I just didn’t like it. But as of a couple years ago, I’ve starting wearing more brown, and even wearing brown and black together.

I get ideas that I can’t wait to implement, but often they don’t quite turn out how I think they well. I’m glad this one did! I really like mixing of polka dots and stripes – I keep seeing it around, and it looks pretty sharp.

I’m pretty set with jewel tones, black, white and gray because those are the colors that work best for me. But I didn’t actually own much white until recently because I thought it might be unflattering, but it totally isn’t so I have no idea what I was thinking!

I’ve actually worn this jacket and top together (with a white pencil skirt) but I don’t think it made the blog. But for some reason I love pairing this jacket with this top. Unexpected but also pleasing.

I’m definitely a jewel tone gal, too. And I loved black for years. But navy really grew on me!

I really love navy for how amazing it looks with every single color, bright of muted shades, but I don’t have very much of it in my closet. It’s really pretty and sophisticated looking with the grey slacks, I’m going to have to try out that color pairing! (Heh, I think neons are the only colors I don’t really wear, they’re not quite my thing.) Some really pretty pattern mixing going with the striped blazer and the polka dotted top as well.

And hey, are you using a different camera for these pictures? I see some bokeh going on here!

I don’t have any neons, either! Except maybe one bright pink top…

And, yes, we have a new camera! My husband bought a Canon Rebel something something and a fancy lens. I don’t know all the details and he’s still learning how to make it all work but it does take some might nice pictures!
