Office Appropriate Outfits - Winter

Sweater – Gap (similar) | Scarf – H&M via Poshmark (use code HBAMM for $5 credit!)(similar) | Dress as a skirt – The Limited (similar dress) | Shoes – Nine West (similar) | Belt – came with a top from The Limited (similar) | Tights – Target (similar)

As I sat at my desk eating my lunch yesterday I kept thinking to myself “don’t spill, don’t spill, don’t spill!”  Because, you see, I’m wearing the same red sweater as yesterday and if I’d spilled something on it then I’d be without my take one, pass it on piece for today!

Yes, I chose the red sweater to pass on.  Did you guess that’s what I’d wear?

Although, let’s be honest, I totally stole this outfit idea from Jen at Librarian for Life Style.  She also paired her polka dot dress with a red sweater and a black and white polka dot scarf and I thought, hey, I have all those pieces!

So here they are.  And huge thanks to Jen for the idea!  I’m still wrapping my brain around wearing dresses as skirts but this one works perfectly.

Also, in response to your comments on my reader survey I made sure that every piece listed today as a similar item is under $30!  In fact, if you wanted to recreate this outfit with all the items I linked it would cost you $120.49 (excluding tax and stuff).  And every single piece here can be worn multiple ways so they would all be great additions to your wardrobe.

And speaking of wearing items multiple ways, which item do you think I’ll be passing on to tomorrow?

I love this look! Maybe it’s my affinity for black/white/red and polka dots! Is that dress still available from The Limited? Although I also like the one from Target you linked. I may have to make a trip to Target today because I’ve been seeing cute dresses pop up around the internet from there this week.
I think you’ll wear the scarf again tomorrow.

omg I had go back and look at your other outfit to confirm you are wearing the same sweater again! Cray!

I’m gonna guess the scarf for tomorrow!

I cannot possibly wear black, white and red together enough. I love this! And I have a black and white polka dot dress, red sweater, and black and white polka dot scarf, so I may need to steal this look 🙂

Basically you wear an outfit on day 1. On day 2 you take an item from the first outfit and wear it with the second outfit. Then you take an item from day 2’s outfit and wear it on day 3. Some people were doing it for a whole month but I decided on just a week.

I love wearing dresses as skirts in winter. It a great way to make your wardrobe last more seasons, and it’s kind of an extra layer. I adore the big dots with the little dots on the dress/skirt and scarf. It adds texture (which you know I’m all about). I also love that color red on you!

Never thought about describing the dress as an extra layer but you’re totally right. I always wear something under my sweaters even if it doesn’t show (tank or tee) so the dress takes that item’s place.

Oh, I like how you linked to items that are all under $30! I clink sometimes on the links of other blogging sites and it’s just crazy sometimes to see price tags of hundreds of dollars. I think the majority of women who visit style blogs have budgets and items like that just aren’t attainable for most of us. (So a round about way of saying Thanks Erin!)
I like how the polka dotted scarf plays off of the pattern of your dress and the sweater works so well with the polka dots.

I love red with black and white polka dots. I actually have an H&M black w white polka dot dress that has this amazing cherry red lining and I’ve often wished you could see that fun pop of red on the outside!
