Yes, yes, I know Valentine’s Day was yesterday but tonight is when my husband and I are actually going out on the town so I wanted to keep the vibe going.  Plus, pink and red is the theme of this week’s Friday’s Fancies with Long Distance Loving.  Who am I to argue?

But just in case pink and red together isn’t your thing, I also paired this outfit with a neutral shoe.

Black shoes would also work.  As would heels in black, red or nude if that’s your preference. Or riding boots. Don’t want to wear skinny jeans?  Boyfriend or straight leg jeans would work just as well. Remember, the idea here is to inspire you not tell you that this is the only look that works!  It’s just another monochromatic top paired with a dark bottom.

But, tell me. Red shoes?  Nude shoes?  Should I have gone with black?  Did you do anything for Valentine’s Day?

P.S.  I’ve gotten some requests via my reader survey (which is still open for another few days!) to post more casual outfits.  Does this count?

I would have worn this with black boots but then again I never really venture into fun color matching.

    I LOVE your necklace!

This is actually a shorter necklace that I made longer by using a bracelet as an extender.

Red Shoes totally!! you look so cute in the first pic :)
I wore the exact same outfit to work yesterday! Pink sweater with pink striped shirt and red shoes but I work slate-gray trousers!
Black for me is too safe and nude looks washed out.
for me this isnt casual as running errands casual but more like a eat-out casual.

Oooh, gray and pink sounds so cute together! I’ll have to remember that combination.

I did pink + red last year for Valentines Day – I went with a pale pink so it was almost a neutral. http://www.flickr.com/photos/notmargaret/6897672327/

I like the color of your scarf with the rich color of the dress. It’s a nice combination.

Thanks! Finding the right pink blazer was tougher than you’d think.

Ooooh I love this! I think the red shoes look great and make the outfit so fun :) Enjoy your night out!

I like the red! I have a great silver ballet flat that I wear as a neutral, I think it would look great with this combo too!

Silver would look awesome! I have some silver heels but they’re a tad too small for me…

I love the red flats! You know I love me some red patent leather flats. ;) I can also picture flats in a bright pop of contrasting color — like a bright blue? — as a fun option for spring.

Oh wow! I never would have thought of blue. I don’t actually own any blue shoes but could totally see them with this outfit.

Ooh – you gave me an idea for my special Valentine’s date tonight! I have a pink blazer that I just pulled out of my “rare wears” closet a few weeks ago. Maybe tonight is a good night to pull it out again!

I like the red shoes! I could totally recreate this outfit! If my black pants fit. LOL.

When I first saw the red shoes, I thought “those are cute!” But then I saw the nude shoes, and I love those even more! Are they from Sole Society? I’ve had my eye on a pair from there that look similar.

Okay, bright pink with blush pink is awesome. I would have never thought to pair those two shades together but they look so beautiful and are completely unexpected! I actually like this with both pairs of shoes, the cute little red flats are really sweet and fun with a playful vibe where the nude flats lend more of a serious, sophisticated look to the outfit. Either way, it works for me.
Mmm, I am so going to have to pair these colors together now.

Looking forward to seeing your take on your blog! I think the blush of the top really tones down the bright pink of the blazer without making it seem blah. Because, really, how can bright pink be blah? :-)
