Remember when I posted about wearing a sequined skirt to the office…but then it didn’t happen?  Well, today’s the day!  I actually swapped out the cardigan for this turtleneck sweater even though the weather is abnormally warm today.  I just wanted to wear gray and blush and I don’t own a gray cardigan.  Wearing the sequined skirt with something other than black takes the sparkle down a notch and makes it less New Year’s Eve and more day at the office.

My husband told me this outfit was “boring”.  Um, it has sequins!  And sparkle!  And shine!  How could it be boring?  What do you think?  Boring or no?  Would you wear sequins like this to work?

P.S.  I apologize if the title of this post got that horrible Rhiana song stuck in your head.  I can never change the radio station fast enough and I always get the worst earworm when it comes on.  Ugh.

P.P.S Don’t forget to enter the giveaways over at Frills for Thrills!  We could be jewelry rack twinsies!

I don’t think it’s boring! Just simple. And that is probably what you want with an attention grabber like that skirt!

    You are such a Rihanna hater! LOL!!! :D :D : D

I would agree; when you’re wearing a statement piece like this it’s a good idea to keep everything else simple.

UM can we talk about HOW FABULOUS you look in this?? I was wondering how you were going to wear this and you seriously rock it.

I may be a little lezzie for you know…

I actually have at least three other outfit ideas for this skirt. So, you can keep on loving me like that :-)

Yes, that Rhianna song is definitely in my head now. DOH! :-) But I love that you wore this skirt to work! The grey definitely makes it less NYE than black would. Congrats on remixing an item that I thought could ONLY be used for a party or special occasion. Love it!

Hahaha, my evil plan has been hatched!

Do you have any sequins in your closet?

      • Valerie January 29, 2013 at 10:11 am #

I have a red sequined tank and a black sequined dress in black (only worn to weddings and parties though… seems a little harder to “dress down” when it’s sequins from head to toe!) :-)

Maybe you could put a sweater over the dress and turn it into a skirt?

            GENIUS!!! I love it :-)

Pretty sure “sequins” and “boring” are two words that cannot coexist in the same descriptor of an outfit. I don’t know if I’d wear sequins on something like a skirt to work (hahahaha like I’d ever wear a skirt to work at all. Only if it were 90+ degrees!), but that has a lot to do with the fact that I’ve never had the fashion confidence to buy anything with sequins period (and/or a place/occasion to wear sequins to). Though I could maybe see myself doing a sequined scarf or something like that…

Boring?!?!? No way! This looks awesome! Love the blush and grey combination together…thank you for the idea! I wouldn’t be able to wear this in my work environment (my line of work is a bit too conservative) but I do applaud those that are able to.

    • Erin @ Loop Looks January 29, 2013 at 11:38 am #

You’re right that the blush and gray would definitely work even without the sequins.

Boring?? I agree with you – sequins can’t be boring. That skirt is so cute! I love the rose gold color. I agree with Melissa. My work environment is a little too conservative for a sequin skirt, but I have worn more subtle sequins on top before (and felt awkward all day). This outfit is great, though!

And thanks, now that song is in my head. Ugh, do not like Rihanna.

      Men :-)

I guess I’m pretty lucky in that I can get away with things that are a little bit more out there on days that I don’t have meetings.

Boring? No way! Adjectives that come to mind… chic, stunning, feminine, classic. Love love LOVE!

Ugh, that song! That has to be one of the worst one playing on the radio right now, I think I’d take even Kesha over that…

No way he thought this was drab! I actually love how you toned down the sparkles, gray is one of my favorite colors and it just looks so chic with the sparkly skirt. (Very un-Ney Year’s Eve looking.) I love this skirt and I like how the pearl necklace mimics the sparkle.

That skirt is fabulous!!! The outfit is anything BUT boring! Love the necklace pairing with the skirt, too – classic with the volume turned up!!!

I love this and the whole look is fabulous on you! I don’t think I’d feel comfortable wearing sequins to work but I really want a sequin skirt or dress or something! I have no idea why I’m drawn to it since nothing else in my wardrobe is sparkly.

Jcrew’s new arrivals have a gray/blush combo! Girl you’re wayyyyy ahead of everyone :)
