Inspiration Monday: Colored Pants

This outfit looks very spring-y to my eye what with the colored pants and the white top. You’d never guess it was 20 degrees F outside. And windy. And my poor husband was taking these photos and freezing his fingers off. Ah, the sacrifices we make.
I suppose I could have made this colored pants look even more winter appropriate but after I saw the inspiration photo I knew I wanted to wear this blouse.

Sure, Lauren’s blouse doesn’t have any black on it, but I knew that my blouse would have enough billowiness to drape the way I wanted it to. To make this even more Chicago-winter appropriate I’d probably throw a black cardigan on over the top to help stay warm.
And aren’t her ankle boots adorable? Now I’m inspired to wear these blue pants with my own tan ankle boots in the future. See, multiple ideas from one outfit! Score!
Would you wear Lauren Conrad’s outfit? How would you interpret it with your own items?

Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.
Ever since I bought this tie-neck top I have been wanting to pair it with these pants.
Today I’m going to share with you one of my favorite ways to this lace dress that I’ve come up with yet.

they have a shirt just like this at the limited. aka i was really surprised to see that it wasn’t from there.
I love LC’s outfit I would totes wear it if I did the whole colored pants thing. I like it on other people but I don’t really like it on me for some reason.
How many pairs of colored pants have you tried on?
i love how you rocked this!

Thanks!
i love the piping on the shirt…it makes it stand out more. and these jeans look so great on you!
The black piping does definitely add a little something to the outfit, for sure.
Man, I cannot believe that you continue to take these pictures outside! I’ve got multiple layers on and wore my hardcore parka and was still pretty darn chilly in this weather. I agree that the outfit (and picture in general) looks springy, and even though I’m perfectly happy with our finally wintery winter weather, it’s nice to think about comfortable temps as well! Haha I’m impossible to please when it comes to weather, apparently.
Jason took my photos for this week yesterday and he was less than thrilled to be out there in the cold! But, he was a good sport because it meant he got to play around with all the new features he discovered on our camera.
I love LC’s olive jeans! I’ve been wanting to jump on this colored jean trend but I have yet to purchase a pair. Then again, I have a difficult time spending money on non-running clothes. Oops…
I don’t like to spend a lot of money on colored pants (or jeans). So I buy them on sale! I actually don’t own any colored jeans unless you count white. Since I can only wear them on Fridays and weekends I wanted something more versatile. Hence, colored dress pants!
Ooo, I like her green colored pants! Will that be the next color you acquire?
A pair of green pants that I could wear in the winter wouldn’t be out of the question. My green pair right now are too short to wear when it’s cold!
I love that blouse you have on, especially with the cobalt pant. Perfect for winter (at least indoors–kudos to you for braving the cold for outfit pics today! I couldn’t do it!). Definitely a great take on the inspiration pic. I like them both, but I’m not sure it’s a look I’d wear. I always feel like something’s missing when I’m in a plain buttondown.
I agree that plain button downs are hard to pull off. They need to fit just-so in order to work.
Yea, I think you’re right. Fit is totally important!
Nice! I like your focus on colored pants and a flowy white blouse. And of course your spot o’ leopard is perfect!
Gotta get the leopard in!
Love the blue with the white and jealous of the leopard belt
I actually do have one buried deep within my closet, but I just could find it the day I wore this outfit. lol
Brett
That’s hilarious about the belt!
j’adore that blouse tres much!
It’s fun, isn’t it? I saw it during a fashion show at Macy’s during Fashion Night Out and just had to have it!
Ooooh, brrr! Kudos to you for taking your jacket off, I’m too lazy to do that right now. I love how you pair colors, even this simple bright blue with the white top is so striking, I love how you threw in the leopard printed belt. And this would be adorable with little booties!
Yeah, but your jackets are cute! Mine are just for warmth. I don’t have the jacket layering thing down like you do.
I love those colored pants. I used to have a pair that color, but they got too small. I love the leopard belt with that outfit too!
