Simple Purple Dress

By now you probably all know my rule of three: wearing three things makes your outfits look more put-together. However, I’m breaking my own rule today and wearing just this simple purple dress. And why, exactly, am I doing that?
I’ve actually had an outfit with a similar purple dress saved on my computer for at least a year and I recently uploaded it to Pinterest. Then I was in The Limited this past weekend with some friends. I saw this dress on the final sale rack but decided that it probably wouldn’t look good on me. Too shapeless, perhaps. But Kelsey tried it on and fell in love with it…but it was too short on her! Someone else try it on, she pleaded! It needs a good home! So, on it went. And in love I fell.
The design on the neckline gives it enough interest that I felt as though a necklace would be competing with it. So I went with bigger earrings and my usual black boots and kept the dress plain and simple.
Every so often, simple is good.

A reader recently contacted me and asked for help with a pair of ankle boots she just bought.
Right now I’m pretty happy with my closet. But even so there are days when I stand there and stare at all the hangers and think, “I wish I had….”
I’ve had all of these clothing pieces in my closet for a long time. I keep wavering on whether or not to keep the cardigan and then it keeps staying. 
Pairing the fancy sequined skirt with a neutral colored cardigan and nude heels helps keep it from being too bling-y or overwhelming.
The fact that I paired two pieces that could be considered slightly casual but added heels and a blazer makes my outfit work appropriate without being traditional.

Love that dress! Dark purple is easily one of my favorite clothing colors…I was going to say for winter, but honestly, I like dark purple any time of the year, soo I’m just going to go with one of my favorite clothing colors in general haha.

Wow, this dress is stunning on you. The neckline looks amazing on you and I love the rich purple color, that was smart going with just the earrings and letting the dress be the star. (I can’t get over the neckline, I love the cutouts, they almost look like a statement necklace!)
