Can I just squee for a moment about how generous my family was this year for Christmas?  Not only did I get so many items off my list but I also FINALLY ended up with the J. Crew Schoolboy navy blazer I’ve been lusting after for months and months.  Granted, that was a joint Christmas and birthday present from my dad and my husband and I had to order it because they were out of my size in the store but I don’t care.  So excited!

And, of course, the Gorjana Griffin bracelet I first saw on Corals and Cognacs months ago.  My husband is too sweet!

I also did pretty good with my no-shopping-for-myself ban.  I mean, jeans aren’t really something you can ask someone else to buy for you.  The white blazer I bought AFTER Christmas so I think that’s okay. Plus, it fills a huge hole in my closet. The Sole Society shoes were too good of a deal to pass up and I really wanted the Old Navy shirt to wear to Christmas brunch with one side of my family.

Getting new clothes for Christmas is so fun and I always look forward to having new pieces in my wardrobe for the new year.

How were your holidays?

Remember, next week we’re back to the regular You Pick Wednesday series!  Perhaps you got something new for the holidays and need ideas on how to wear it?  Let me know!

That bracelet is so pretty! Have you worn the plaid (or however it’s called now) tops yet? It blows my mind that plaid (or whatever it’s called now) is coming back! I had a plaid (or… you get the point, lol) top that I LOVED when I was a freshman… in high school! :) I bet it never went away and I am just that out of it! :)

My mom got me a new orange coat which I love. And I asked my grandma for a red blazer and a pencil skirt in a fun color and she delivered on both! Excited!!!

I haven’t worn any of my new stuff yet! Saving it for blog photos :-) Plaid was definitely in when I was in high school but of course you wore the shirts two or three sizes too big! It’s much more tailored now.

I want to see pictures of your items! How are you planning to wear the red blazer? What color is your pencil skirt?

I will send you some pics! I am thinking to wear the red blazer with all sorts of things – pants/jeans, skirt/over a dress… I am excited! I bet I will wear it to the office next week :) The pencil skirt is a pretty plum!!!

I like that you (Kim) say “or whatever it’s called now”. It’s still called plaid, right?!

          • Erin @ Loop Looks January 2, 2013 at 1:45 pm #

I had to school Kim on the difference between plaid, gingham and buffalo plaid. Pretty sure these are just “plaid” :-)

that bracelet is gorg! I also LOVE those little sparkly black flats!

    • Erin @ Loop Looks January 2, 2013 at 10:05 am #

I love, love, love my new bracelet! And it’s reasonably priced, too.

The shoes were a gift from my dad and his wife that they let me pick out. I think these will be in my closet for a long time! They’re just so classic but with a bit of fun.

I thought of something I need help with! I have all these navy blue sweaters and tops but don’t know what pants to wear them with other than gray…can I wear them with jeans? other colored pants? I have no idea…help!

Do you have pics of the navy shirts (or some thing similar)? Are they online somewhere? I can totally tackle this request :-)

LOVE that sparkly top (#6). My dad’s family lives in Seattle, and last year I was introduced to this AMAZING little boutique out there, Romy. Their clothes are crazy cute and crazy affordable, so I pretty much put the entire store on my Christmas list. I ended up with a cardigan and two 3/4-sleeve shirts, a belt, a necklace (that I actually asked for because it reminded me a lot of the necklace you wore at book club when you hosted, and I kind of love that necklace haha), and two pairs of earrings. STOKED. Except since it’s like -1982823 degrees right now I can’t wear my 3/4-length shirts quite yet, lest I risk death by frostbite on my commute. But I also got some $$ and plan to head downtown this weekend to replace the sweaters I’ve been wearing routinely every winter since freshman year of college…which was now four winters ago. AND THEN when I have my fab new wardrobe you can consult my closet and teach me how to wear things :)

Oooh, I want to see pictures of your stuff! Especially the necklace.

And I’m totally looking forward to doing a closet consultation with you, too.

Love everything! Can’t wait to see how you style it all too :) I’ve got an outfit planned for this week that totally made me think of you, haha!

I got some great stuff, including a cute little purse that fills a void in my closet, and a dress and some basic tops I haven’t tried on yet. My husband got me a boatload of stuff from Old Navy, including the fox sweater and a great plaid shirt, and a cute red dress–the first red thing I’ve gotten new in years! I also got myself a few things thrifting, as well as 2 tops at Target… a Chanel-inspired cardigan and a black turtleneck.

Will I be able to guess which one reminds you of me??

Your haul sounds awesome! Looking forward to seeing you style them all.

Sweet gift with the schoolboy blazer! J.Crew makes such a nice blazer and there can be such a difference in quality between the cheaper and more expensive blazers, so this was such a fantastic thing to ask for! (And oooh, it will work with everything your got as gifts!) That Zara leather jacket is stunning, I clicked over and then link and then had to talk myself out of it. It’s so fun with the collar!

    • Erin @ Loop Looks January 3, 2013 at 9:43 am #

FYI, the ZARA leather jacket runs really small (I had to buy a medium). But the faux fur collar detaches so you can get two looks with one jacket.
